Attention The Baths: Yea or Nay?

I went to one recently in Toronto. Not the one in the photo - the other one (I forget the name). My first time - I am pretty out of shape, so have been too nervous until now.

It was a lot cleaner than I had expected, actually. A lot darker, though, too. Quite honestly it was pretty boring - there wasn't a lot of action, everyone wore their towels unless they were getting in and out of the whirlpool. Fortunately that was a nice big one as that is pretty much where I spent most of my time as I got bored. I left after about an hour and a half.

I suppose it was a bit liberating to be open about it, but in reality the strip clubs had more action.
 
It was great fun in my 20s and 30s....but alas too old for that kind of thing now.

Only one left in Amsterdam? I used to visit Day Thermos, Night thermos and a few others whose names I have forgotten. I had good times there. Which is the one that is still in existence ?
 
^ Thermos ended up being just one sauna, which was closed when the owner filed for bankruptcy last April.
There were rumors about the sauna opening again, but it hasn't happened so far.

Alas, bankruptcy! I suppose the likes of Grindr has to take part of the responsibility. I like going to bath houses, it is the anonymity that I like. I once had the attention of six men on different parts of my body! That was a spontaneous incident, one which I will not forget and unfortunately, had not been repeated.

I've always thought I look best naked, so I think of places where I can walk around with as little clothing as possible as my natural habitat. But I haven't been to the baths in years. I generally found them pretty boring and would set myself a time limit to find a partner or partners--say an hour--and leave if nothing had happened. I was hired a few times. however--to give performances--jacked off and got fucked and that was pretty exciting.

My sister needed a holiday and I had to come along because she doesn't speak Spanish. We traveled through Panama and Costa Rica to see the sites; we went to see the Panama Canal, we went Quetzal watching, we went to the cloud rainforest in CR, we went to the Caribbean coast, we went to the rainforest and the mangrove and we went to see the turtles laying their eggs.
 
A particular bath house, now closed, in LA and a favorite of the younger 1980's college age crowd, situated on three separate levels (floors), consisted principally of wide, heavily carpeted, dimly lit hallways intersected with smaller, even more dimly lit passageways lined with small, side-by-side, closet size cubicles. The thin ply board walls of many such cubicle were handily "holed" out...some as big as basketballs...so occupants of the adjoining cubicle could easily view whatever might be going on there. There were also a number of totally dark black, twisting mazes into which...if one dared enter...eventually emerged into a large orgy room....here hunky young porn stars, bodybuilders and other such hard muscled young bucks "entertained" sometimes for hours on end. Membership was restricted and available only to those guys referred by an existing member. In those pre-Aids-HIV days, it was the place to go. Clothing was optional....though most everyone roamed about everywhere usually stark, bare ass naked. Those were the days.
 
I used to go to them from time to time in Sydney but they're pretty segregated. Most of them are the exclusive zone of the pretty gym built twink, and the others are sort of dark and dingy and full of leather/fetish queens. Personally, I'd rather not go anymore. Probably an age thing. If I want to wander around naked being ignored I can do that at home.
 
Back in the 1980's I went anytime I got a chance. After the early 1990s I stopped going. We had some pretty wild bath houses here in Ohio, especially in the early 80's.

I go to bathhouses and frankly they are more safer than going to a stranger house. If anything happens in a bathhouse you can scream at top of your lungs for help. There are other men around in a bathhouse. You go to a stranger house you just don't know and hope for the best. If you go a gay bar or online which is basically a virtual bathhouse it is the same shit. At least in a bathhouse people are honest and to the point they want SEX. Yet online people bullshit, claim they are looking for love yet want to see nude photos of your dick or whatever. At least in a bathhouse you know the score.
