On a local talk radio station I heard something interesting:

If you put up outside Christmas lights are they all white or multi colored?

Did you at one time put up colored lights and then change to white lights? or...
Have you switched from all white lights to colored lights?

Our house has all green lights

I prefer a solid colour theme and would prefer clear lights but The Boy wanted some colour

I don't put up lights--- but over the last year or so several houses near me have used larger, multi-colored bulbs that have a pleasing retro look.

Used to decorate outside--but not any more.

Inside's a different story, tho.

We have a mix of solid colors ( green, white, red, white) on a row of Lilac bushes, white candles in every window, a string of faux evergreen with white lights framing the garage, a large rhodadendron draped in red lights, a holly hedge covered in blue and gold, traditional evergreen hedge in red and white and a huge forsythia mound covered in multi color, oh yeah I almost forgot, on one peak of the house we have a huge faux evergreen wreath covered in white lights. And finally by the front door a natural wreath with bows and a spry of ribbon tied holly on the front door itself, both spot lit of course. That folks is just the outside, we're still working on the inside. Whew!!!

I'm a big fan of multicolor. But when I was growing up, my dad really liked solid blue lights. It was a neat look. One thing the whole family could agree on was that we didn't like clear lights--too bright. The Minnesota landscape in winter begs for some color.

Grew up with large colored lights at my family's home. I use white lights at mine.

I live in an apartment and since mine is on the second floor with a railing around my deck and landing up to my door, I hung white icicle lights and hooked them up to a timer.

The look real purty. :xmas:

Just take them down by January 15th - or else...

Outside lights can be a very dangerous aeshtetic statement; too many, and the house begins to look like a used car lot.

I only put lights on my little Christmas tree.
