I started being hit with ads all over my tabs today - FB & Twitter - haven't had the type hitting me - don't know why.

I don't see a lot of them either. Mine show up though. I know that sites that JUB frown on (Q M N & W B) don't show. I also know that for pics of actors/actresses, IMDb (Internet Movie Database) never show up either
