  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

The best song from the sixties?

Sly & Family Stone....

"Don't hate the Black, Don't hate the White....if you get bitten..just hate the bite"

Dionne Warwick put us (San Jose) on the map in the 1960s....

I think everyone loved Dionne Warwick (except for Aretha:rotflmao: )

...and this wonderfully tacky video ...LOVE IT......

Then one has all those car songs. . .

Little Deuce Coupe - The Beach Boys

Hot Rod Lincoln - Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen

The Little Nash Rambler - The Playmates

Dean Man's Curve - Jan and Dean

The Beach Boy singing Little Deuce Coupe and Jan (Dean?) sound similar. I wonder if this is a particular SoCal accent of the period or just a style of singing.

Teenage Awards Music International - T.A.M.I. Concert Show - Santa Monica, California - 1964

In 1964 Jan and Dean were the host of a music concert, filmed live for broadcast to movie theaters across the USA.

The T.A.M.I. Concert Show was recorded using a high-resolution technique to fully capture on film some of the top musical performers of 1964 singing at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium to a live audience.

Jan and Dean not only hosted the concert, they performed the show's theme song!

YouTube still has many posts of the T.A.M.I. Concert available and please browse through them as you please. This is an amazing film from an amazing moment in music history. The Beatles had just appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" a few weeks earlier and the stage was set for what has turned out to be one of the most dynamic periods in popular music.

All captured on film, for all time.

Shirley Ellis...the Name Game (but I like Jessica Lange signing it alot better...my apologies to Shirley)
