The bible was written at a time when we didn't have any science to back anything up, a time when lots of myths, legends and folklores were told at the table during dinner as entertainment. How it came to brainwash 2 billion minds around the world is a total tragedy!

it would make sense for them to be living together if they're Mormons. They're doing their missionary work.

No doubt they enjoy getting into the missionary position when they're at home, away from the public.

I totally agree with you*on this. People will believe all these fantastic impossible stories but refuse to believe there could be life on other planets. To me it is more possible that there is life someplace else than these stories in the bible.

People criticize some of the more bizarre passages in the bible and others come along to say "No no no, you have to understand the connnntexxxxtt."

Which has always struck me as the same kind of excuse making where someone gets caught in an act of infidelity and blurts out "It's not what it looks like!"

"Bill, are those pumps sticking out from under the desk yours?"

"............Yesss.......Uhhh........It's a feminist thing, Hillary, I wanted to know what it was like to walk a mile in your shoes..."

Well, yes, perhaps the bible is what it looks like: to my eyes a plagiarized fable used by powerful men to dupe fearful and miserable people into parting with their money and their loyalties for the benefit of the few.

Oh! Yes, there are some well-meaning people who tried to make it a force for good, for social cohesion, for decency, over the years, either by deliberately crafting it that way or by seeing in it what they wanted to see.

Ultimately though, I don't have much regard for what some guy on facebook says the bible says about me. It isn't his concern.

I think you're just engaging in apologetics. Jesus endorsed the Laws of Moses, he was Jewish, and he supported the laws of the Torah that forbids inserting penises up another man's rectum. It is possible that gays as people are not condemned, but sodomy is certainly condemned.

Gays should find other faiths that are not homophobic (Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism or whatever else) instead of perverting the scriptural teachings of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to suit your own agenda.
