The Biden-Harris Inauguration Thread

Thanks for the support gentlemen. TX-Beau's comment was pretty mild by CE&P standards and I thought it was best just to take no notice.

LOL, why is it that people who are talking no notice feel the need to take notice? Don't worry, the other guy is always telling me he's never going to talk to me again...

That made me laugh

The woman who carried us across the finish line.

The Garth Brooks appearance was an embarrassment.

I know I'm no fan of the hymn he sang, but even the selection of a hymn at a government event should not have happened. Of course, apologists will fob it off with the secularization of the hymn, but it's still a sectarian worship song, so inappropriate.

And that's before you get to the bad rendition of it, the slovenly wearing of jeans to a formal inaugural event, and the running around maskless and hugging of every former president present after all the condemnation of White House "superspreader" events.

The inauguration was a huge success, aside from the fact The People could not attend due to the DMZ established, but Brooks' part was a "no."

There are hymns that could have been appropriate, but that wasn't one. Worse, he also butchered it -- had I turned out a performance like that when I was lead tenor in college choir I would have gotten an F for the day: his enunciation was terrible, his phrasing was worse.

If I'd been Garth, I would have sung People Loving People then done a riff on Friends in Low Places with "Friends in High Places" and brought some humor to the occasion.

Amazing Grace is a hymn that requires anything but quiet containment. I'm fine with a hymn per se at an inauguration. It's any Faith Govt Dept or the like that needs to go.

It certainly is popular, even in bars and karaoke, but that shouldn't be the measure of selection of something to be in an official government function.

Pole dancing is hugely popular with a lot of Americans, but it doesn't belong there either, not even if by some hot singer.
