The biggest one hit wonder

THere's a lot of artists in Australia that were huge down there and only had one hit internationally.. the Eurogliders, John Farnham, Joe Dolce, Little river Band, Split Enz...

In Canada we had a bunch too. Saga, Corey Hart, Glass tiger, Platinum Blonde, Toronto, April Wine, Alanah Miles... the list goes on and on.

yeah but how can those songs count as hits if they don't hit the pop top 40?? i'm sure every one hit wonder has released multiple singles...they just didn't hit...

i did forget incomplete...tho it wasn't a hit on the pop charts...but it was on the r&b charts...it's a good song.

montell never had another top 40 hit...he had that one from the nutty professor but it was a bomb.

I would guess Taco with Puttin on the Ritz was a big one hit wonder.

I've always enjoyed "Two Of Hearts" by Stacey Q and "Don't Wanna Fall In Love" by Jane Child

Romeo Void - Never Say Never

Holy Crap !!

I'd forgotten all about that one !

"I might like you better if we slept together,
I might like you better if we slept together...."

*Scandalous* lyrics back in the 80's !

I had that on a 'mix tape' with Kajagoogoo's 'Too, Shy Shy'

(God, I'm old)

Anyhoo, I heard a couple the other day, but I have NO idea who the
artist was.

1) 'Moonlight...Feels Right' (with an actual xylophone solo (perhaps the
only one in top 40 history) ) in it.... It's all about some guy wanting to get laid, with lyrics such as "'cause me and moon are itchin' to play"

2) "Down on Thunder Island" ...sha na na na na my baybee, in the sun with your dress undone..."

Sure I could Google....But, where's the fun in that ?

'Heaven on the 7th floor, anyone ?

Ooh yes, Alannah Myles, so sad she didn't have more hits here, that woman has one of the best rock voices I've ever heard, second only to Ann Wilson.

One of my favorite one hit wonders, lmao. It took me literally 5 years to figure out who sang Informer though. Had trouble googling him 'cause I always thought he sang something different.

Snow - Infoooormer

Ini Kamoze - Hotstepper

How about "Feelings" by Morris Albert. It wouldn't go away.It was number 1 in the US for something like 10 weeks and is possibly the most annoying song ever written or performed.

I don't know about the pop chart thing but the mumbers I gave you is from the billboard hot 100 which I believe is the main chart. It's not from the r&b chart!!!I agree with you that it wasn't that "hit" because the billboard chart isn't purely a sale-driven chart like before, now they blend radio airplay deta, digital download sales and cd/vinyl sales(if it's available) so.............:D :D :D

Boy Meets Girl - waiting for a star to fall

Taco - Puttin On The Ritz

Captain Sensible - WHAT?

That "Who let the dogs out" song.

it's actually easier to have a hit now though...people are buying more singles so a song like that crap taylor hicks put out can actually debut at number one based almost solely on sales and then take a dive after one week...we're becoming like the crappy british charts where any "numa numa" type crap can now hit number one...for example, i saw on fox news that "hips don't lie" is the biggest hit in sony/bmg's history...how sad is that...

I can't believe nobody mentioned Take On Me by A-Ha.

...unless I missed something, which I probably did

Well because "Take on me" wasn't even the biggest hit that A-ha had.

"The sun always shines on TV" was a much bigger hit, and they had four hits just on that one album("Hunting High and Low" and "Train of Thought", plus "Cry Wolf", "The Living Daylights", "Stay on these roads" and "Crying in the rain" from other albums.

"Take on me" is probably their most enduring hit... but not their only one.
