One downstairs that saves me having to run upstairs and one in my bedroom that has to cope with the overflow of clothes from my closets and bureaus. It gets cleared up every couple of weeks and then...

My cats would have those knocked over and covered with cat hair before they ever got that high. Everything must be hung up immediately.

I'm much more apt to build piles of jackets and hats and gloves in the car. Particularly when seasons are turning.

I keep thinking I should perhaps move to a nudist colony. Saves cost of buying clothes, the time of doing laundry, and--I now realize--frees up a chair.

Speaking of chairs, last week a client offered me a nice folding chair. It wasn't one of those clangy metal ones. It was mostly wood with nice padding on the seat and back. I figured it would make a nice alternate computer chair when the cat falls asleep in the one I use. Plus, it was light, so I took it.

Getting home was a bitch. The trains were all fucked up. At my transfer I saw it would be twenty minutes until a train came. The platform was crowded and I was exhausted, but not enough to squeeze between the diseased cretins on the benches so I just unfolded the chair and sat in it. Very comfortable.

The train ended up taking much longer and it was packed so I waited for the next one. Bad move, as that one took a while. By the time it arrived, I was pissed off and sweaty. I just wanted to get home. So I got on the train, completely forgetting that the chair I was sitting on was mine.

I never saw that chair again.

I have no chair in the bedroom and I am a little bit of a clean freak. When I do laundry, clothes get hung up or put into the drawers. I don't like seeing things not in their place.

Nope. I put my clothes away as soon as they are dry. Saves on ironing as the creases fall out.
That said, growing up we had a rocking chair in the kitchen which was always piled high with clean washing. I hated it. You had to rummage through everything to find a clean pair of pants

I am inconstant.

Sometimes, I'm very attentive to fold the clothes and hang them.

But, I certainly do have an arm chair in the corner of my bedroom, and I did take a core sample just before writing this. If I'm not mistaken, the bottom layer of sediment was laid down not long after the ice dam broke and flooded the Dakotas. Science is so fascinating.

Although I sometimes leave a few gloves, hats, or umbrellas around, mostly I have a chair in my bedroom where I pile junk mail, mostly for charitable and political donations that I think I will sometime go through and give to a few and throw the rest out. I eventually do go through them after a few months and throw out the bulk of them but give to a few, which helps them decide to send more requests.
