It's Showtime for the new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

After 12 long years of development the big reveal is tonight, 4/11/2017;
at the 2017 New York International Auto Pre-Show.

And while Mopar fans are ready to greet the ultimate Challenger, Dodge has announced that 2017 is in fact the final year for the Viper.

Looks like The Dodge Boys want to take over the New York Auto Show.
I wish the new Challenger SRT Demon an awesome introduction!

Priced between $85k and $125k I'll take a Ferrari, thank you very much :lol:

The 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds is amazing fast tho

Wow, guess I should've saved some money while waiting all this time. Getting near $100K gives me the shakes.

I've read that the NHRA has already banned it from their tracks, because it's too fast. You probably need to put in a roll cage to run it.

Even with the automatic transmission's "trans-brake", and the racing fuel engine management system, there's no way the Demon can race at NHRA sanctioned tracks. Not without major safety retrofits to meet racing standards.

Since the SRT Demon is a single seat car, Dodge will offer "optional" passenger seats upon request, lol.

Looks like a p sweet ride.

Ya know Charon, I think the Demon makes a nice weekend grocery-getter.

I was 13 years old in 1970 and was hooked on car magazines.
The Challenger story was very interesting to me.

The problem with the Ford Mustang was it's origin. The Ford Falcon was a small car with a small engine bay. By using the Falcon platform to create the first generation Mustang, Ford got the styling right but the car could not offer the full range of power plants - not without re-working the underpinnings.

The Chrysler boys had a better idea. The 1970 Dodge Challenger was a "Wide-Body" car - very wide.

The Challenger was formed from the Dodge Charger, just shortened to get that "pony car" look. While the Challenger was short in length it was full-sized in width and could easily swallow all Mopar power plants right up to the 440 cid big-block.

The Challenger's massive engine bay afforded plenty of elbow room for mechanics to work magic on any engine.
