Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Britney has only released two more albums then Christina and has sold 100million copies worldwide.

Well, if we're being honest, Britney was marketed and packaged with a specific goal in mind from the day she was born, so of course she was going to become a moneymaking machine. Christina, on the other hand, immediately stepped outside of the "bubblegum pop princess" image as soon as she had the chance. Britney is mostly an image, a performer - whereas Christina is more of an artist (and obviously more vocally talented, which apparently doesn't always translate into huge album sales).

As far as comparing Christina's success/album sales with Madonna's, that's ridiculous, because she's been around for almost 30 years. It's like comparing Justin Timberlake to Michael Jackson; she hasn't even had a chance to develop the kind of status Madonna's achieved.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I don't understand why whenever somebody mentions Christina, someone else immediately compares her to somebody else. It's really weird. I've always liked Christina because of her voice and her lyrics. I think she's an amazing artist. This album is cool, it has some good songs. Mostly, the soft ones. The electropop is not really her, specially now that the market is full of people doing the same. But it's not a bad record.

She always comes out with something new... and there's no other artist that has gone through pop, latinpop, R&B, rock, gospel, blues, soul, jazz, and been successful in all of them. So I don't understand why people always expect Christina to be competing against Britney, or Gaga, or Mariah Carey... Why does she have to?

And that's what Britney complains about. She's also always being criticised and compared and that's why she couldn't deal with the pressure. Christina just don't let people's criticism affect her and she does what she wants to do, and some people seem to be expecting her to do be more controversial. To become more commercial to pair up with other artist that are just fads.

Yeah I agree with you.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Man, Christina's first album in 1999 sold like 8.1 million copies in the USA. It was huge!

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I think its her worst video ever

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

The video isnt anything special. kind of a snooze tbh. def not a summer jam. and i dont see it helping sales at all.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I love it. I wasn't to fond of the song but with the video I've really caught on to the lyrics and the purpose of the song. The video just made me feel it all. Im not a fan of slow ballads.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Yeah, I love the song. It is quite possibly her best ballad to date. And that says a lot.

I just would not have released it yet. I would have released 'Prima Donna' or 'Vanity' for the summer. Great dance songs. Released an amazing video (with a Lady Gaga appearance just for kicks) and watched the album sales soar.

I'm not sure 'You Lost Me' (amazing song that it is) can do that right now.

Because we live in one of the most ridiculously sexist cultures in the world. Because she has the ability to pull off pretty much any genre of music, she's going to be compared (AKA pitted against) whoever is "known" for the particular music style she's experimenting with (see: This silly Christina VS Gaga thing that's currently going on).
It's mostly because American fans and critics are so narrow-minded that they can't believe that TWO women could possibly do one specific genre of music well. They must be copying one another! Or one of them is simply not being genuine! So, they create a "feud" (let's be honest: Neither Christina or Gaga started this comparison themselves) and people take sides, because that's just easier to do. It's absurd - but it's been going on for decades (and not just in the music world).

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Because she has the ability to pull off pretty much any genre of music

Just because someone can, doesn't mean they should and she doesn't get that. There are plenty of blunders in the music industry of exactly that (Madonna "rapping", American Idiot "opera", movie actors singing). The woman certainly has talent and can sing but she needs to pick one or two genres and stick with them. It has resulted in her having an identity crisis which is basically a death sentance for anyone in the entertainment industry. A break from music would just kill her off completely. If she wants to salvage her career, she needs to get a CD out sometime next year showcasing her strengths or she will be forgotten.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^^her strength IS her VOCAL PROWESS no matter what the GENRE of music is. Think about it, MOST CHRISTINA AGUILERA songs are deemed to be very very challenging to perform, why do you think so many of her songs are being used in competitions like Idol (all around the world) & X-Factor from a pop-rock FIGHTER to a powerful ballad like BEAUTIFUL or VOICE WITHIN. Hell even NOT MYSELF TONIGHT is challenging (I CAN SEE A YOUNG WHITNEY OR DONNA SUMMER performing it) To me her true artistry lies in the fact that she is A TRUE MUSICAL CHAMELEON and uses her voice effectively in whatever genre of music she sets her sights on. SHE IS ALREADY RECOGNISED AS HIGHLY VERSATILE no need to stick to one type of genre. Besides she'll ALWAYS be considered a POP ICON so technically no matter what kind of music she releases it'll be viewed as POP.
