. When he walked out no pants on OMG
. I wish Christina would always wear her makeup like in that movie too (as she was not performing of course), as a side-note.^Hmm, I pretty much disagree completely with most of your assessment of Pink but yeah let's move on.
Evita? Sounds cool, and it's a film. I actually quite liked Burlesque, even if the plot was basically Coyote Ugly redone it was fun. And Cam Gigandet was extra-delish. When he walked out no pants on OMG

Love Christina too and I agree with what you said about her dodging high notes and inconsistent live performances. The culprit was her bad technique. Her voice is incredible, but the worse no no is her dropping her larynx. She did it to adopt Whitney Houston's darker tone when her voice is naturally light and airy like Mariah's. That's why it's so coarse now. I remember catching some of her Back to Basics concert on TV and you could hear the fatigue in her voice halfway through. Singing a song or two for a TV performance is one thing. Performing such demanding songs back to back for night after night on tour is another and incredibly exhausting.OMG I have so many thoughts on Ms. Aguilera - starting with the way the public has turned on her! What more needs to be said about the sales of her last two albums? It seems so unexplainable too. Back to Basics sold pretty well and and would've sold even more if it were a standard-length album, so it was a slight step down from the debut and Stripped level of sales but not a concerning amount.
Keeps Gettin' Better (the song) also reached #7. The actual compilation flopped a bit it had to be said though (though it basically has enough for 'gold' status in the US) so maybe around '08 is when the problems can be traced back to.
I read something around "Not Myself Tonight" was the most added song to radio when it came out - there were conspiracy theories around it's floppage after that, theories that there was an inside job to sabotage Christina's Bionic era. I'm not sure I believe that in particular, but it still seems odd that a song can be most-added to radio and then go nowhere. Bionic was also the most illegally downloaded album of it's year I read. I still like to buy all my music on CD and haven't illegally downloaded a thing in years, so that's kind of an annoying point for me too.
Lotus era was even worse than Bionic of course, just when it seemed it couldn't GET any worse. But this time, she didn't promote apart from some half-assed Q&A videos on Youtube and a few performances here and there (none of which were of the LEAD SINGLE "Your Body" oddly - there was an informal sort of performance of that, but it hardly counts as promotion). How much of that was Christina's or her label's fault I don't know, but either way there was almost no promotion. Her Bionic planned tour was axed by the record label and she did promote "Not Myself Tonight", so I do feel bad for her there...but Lotus era it's harder because little was done to save its demise (but as said, that might not be so much her fault).
The other sad thing is Christina's voice itself. Debut era-'07 or so? Exellent in studio, and mostly good live. She's never been that consistent as a live singer - she always dodged the high notes of her recordings and often sounded rough and strained even in her peak voice era. As much as I love the performance I just posted even, her botched tackling of the high note is what would've often happened if she'd always gone for those notes. The downside of her ambitious studio performances (which she would've been allowed infinite attempts to get right) were that she didn't think about having to replicate them live.
But she still had some knockout performances earlier on. After '07 or so her live performances have mostly been at best average and sometimes even bad. Christina has an undeniably great voice which still sounds good in the STUDIO with overdubs and whatnot, but her live voice has definitely declined and hugely. I guess to put it bluntly, there's a difference between having a great voice and being a great singer - Christina is more of the former.
I am a huge fan, and I hope she can bounce back because the voice aside I think she's also a great songwriter (much like P!nk) and hugely talented. She's also one of the few artists who can and have tackled any style of music and sounded just as good doing each one. Basically the situation with her career sucks and people need to fucking embrace her again.
It's interesting that early on in their careers, P!nk was very much in the shadow of Britney and Christina, but now the tables have turned and now her shadow is towering over the other two, and her last album "The Truth About Love" has now sold 7 million copies, which is basically more than Christina's last three albums combined (maybe even four counting the hits collection). Of course this thread isn't about P!nk but it's maybe worth considering how she's done it and maybe Christina could even pick up some tips or something.
OMG ooooold lol. Still can't believe I wrote all that. Truth be told I haven't listened to a full album since Bionic, despite my 'sadness' of her flopping since then. Haven't even listened to Back to Basics in years despite my thinking it was probably her direction with the most potentialLove Christina too and I agree with what you said about her dodging high notes and inconsistent live performances. I haven't listened to Liberation or her recent Spanish language albums, but I see she has a Vegas residency and seems to be doing well which is good. Her days of topping the charts might be over, but that shouldn't stop her from continuing to make music and performing for her fans.
. Plus I evolved to also think her flopping's partly her fault as well, with all her absurd 4-year breaks between albums. Girl, you make pop music that's mostly love and sex songs, it really doesn't need that much time lol.
