The Christina Aguilera Mega-thread

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

On a lighter note - Lift Me Up

Inspirational and her vocals are not all over the place. Nicely restrained that the song flows really well.

You Lost Me - sounds like a 50's oldies song. Nice.

I Am - SIA <3 <3 <3 <3

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I've listened to the album twice now, and I like most of the songs! Some of them might need to grow on me, the sound of the album as a whole seems pretty eclectic and very different for christina. She is an amazing artist and singer, and if you aren't into it, then bye bye! Stop complaining!

How were you able to listen to the leak? I cannot find the album anywhere online, and Sony's pulled the songs that I've already heard.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Christina needs to quit while she's... well, obviously not AHEAD, but at least not so far behind.

Maybe things would be different for her if she possessed even a smidge of charisma; instead, she sits back and takes bitchy snipes at her more successful peers (Gaga, Britney, etc.), fueled by the overwhelming jealousy that she harbors towards them. It would be one thing if she had the charm and panache to back up her nasty attitude, but she simply doesn't. She just goes with whatever album theme her record company crams down her overactive throat -- Soul vixen! Rocker chick! Hip-hop diva! -- and masquerades as an innovator.

Oh, and Christina? You're a married, 30-year-old mother. Singing about getting drunk in the club and making out with girls doesn't look cute on you.

Oh God the finalists' rendition of Christina-medley was horrible.

I don't really love the song 'You Lost Me,' or the entire album in general, but her voice is still phenomenal.

agree.. it seems like she just does bad imitations of whoever is popular at the moment.. she started as a poor-man's britney and has just imitated others along the way until now she's copying gaga just because that's the flavor of the month.. it's time for her to find an identity of her OWN (beyond just being sluttier/skankier versions of the people she copies), and then she might be able to get some traction.. it's actually sad because she has an AMAZING voice (MUCH better than the stars she imitates), but vocal talent alone can't make up for a lack of 'star' quality/charisma/personality... you're either an original, or you're not - so far she's not..

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

LOL at the haters HER VOICE ALONE speaks for itself..peopel saying she should quit or what not? If you're actually voicing your opinion doesn't that prove that she still has "some" relevance in the industry? LMFAO. Her performance of You Lost Me was chilling!! NO OTHER ARTIST OUT THERE CAN EVEN COME CLOSE TO THAT KIND OF PERFORMANCE.

As for this statement, it couldn't be any more off-the-wall, and I'm not referring to Michael Jackson's album either. Christina's record company was in control of her first album. With that being said, those ideas for her image and music were created by her label, not her. As far as Stripped and B2B are concerned, she had a unique image and sound compared to her contemporaries at the time.

On another note, I finally had a chance to listen to the album. You Lost Me, Sex For Breakfast, and Lift Me Up are my definite favorites. What can I say, she can attack mid-tempos to ballads well.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I downloaded it a couple days ago (because I'm simply too homo to wait for the release date) and it is AMAZING. Seriously, there is absolutely zero filler on the album + every song is a hit.

It is actually a different sound, yet you can't really pinpoint any genre. There are hints of just about everything. Also, Peaches, M.I.A., Le Tigre, and Sia are all on the album, and their influences are very well known/heard. The standouts are definitely "You Lost Me", "Vanity", "Elastic Love", and "Glam".

OH..and to all the Gaga disciples who are saying Christina's copying her, have you NOT seen Christina's many reinventions/experiments over the years or the video for "Fighter"?? She's always been edgy and eccentric. I don't see a Gaga influence at all, actually. If anything, I'd say she's copying Madonna's mid-90's image (the "Not Myself Tonight" video is an obvious "Human Nature" ripoff) - but let's be honest: Everyone and their grandmother copies Madonna. That's not a story or a newsflash.

Go buy the album! ..|

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Prima Donna needs to be a single now that song is awesome her vocals are on fire it reminds me of MJ's angry voice

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

The snippets don't do the album any justice. This album is on FIRE!

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

It's official...this album is a flop, critically speaking. She promised a ground-breaking album, working with all of these alternative artists like Ladytron ,MIA, Santigold, Peaches, Le Tigre, Sia.... And what do we end up with? Two atrocious singles, a video that should've never happened, and an album that is 95% filler. I'm more upset that her label though it wise to not let her have more creative control of this effort. The two singles reek of "we need what we think is a hit" record industry paranoia. It's no surprise the best songs (Elastic Love, Birds of Prey, You Lost Me...and yes, even Vanity) are also the most adventurous she's ever done. I was rooting for her, but she didn't deliver like she promised.

MTV review

Fans have already gotten a pretty good taste of what they can expect from Christina Aguilera's upcoming album, Bionic, out June 8. In addition to the singles "Woohoo" and "Not Myself Tonight," other tracks from the disc have leaked online. Despite rumors that worries about the album's success are what prompted Aguilera to postpone her summer tour to 2011, songwriter Claude Kelly said it will be the album of the summer.
"I'm excited about Christina," Kelly told MTV News !

And by me the album is fantastic :D

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

I'm not fond of it but I wish Christina all the best with this album, I'm wondering how much her first week sales will be.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

for the record, I'm not anti-Christina. I don't see anything wrong with being critical of artists I like...cause I have a brain and stuff.
