^^ lol you're not anti-Christina..yet you're already proclaiming that her album is "officially a flop" 1 week before it's actual release?! I think with Christina though she's always raising the bar with her albums, so fans & occasional listeners tend to expect a lot from her. Christina IMO got two type of fans those who favours her BALLADS (Beautiful - Hurt) heavily and those who actually enjoy the UPBEAT music (e.g. Fighter - Candyman). I honestly think those who are expressing their disappointment for this album are the ballad lovers. Her ballads on this album ARE NOT AS STRONG compared to STRIPPED & B2B. She's made songs here that even Britney Spears can actually sing (e.g. Elastic Love) and that's another reason I think why people are criticizing her, most Christina Aguilera songs are UNTOUCHABLE. Anyway I love the album coz I am obsessed with her voice, she said it from the beginning that it's about her having fun....so why not let her?!

I did say "critically speaking". I don't judge an album's success by how it charts, I'm concerned with the quality of the music. Bionic had potential to be her most interesting work yet but the content doesn't match her awesome album art. I compare this album to having a best friend who decided to wear a horrible outfit. Sometimes you just have to tell them "Girl...no. Try again" rather than lie to them and tell them they look good.

It's official...this album is a flop, critically speaking. She promised a ground-breaking album, working with all of these alternative artists like Ladytron ,MIA, Santigold, Peaches, Le Tigre, Sia.... And what do we end up with? Two atrocious singles, a video that should've never happened, and an album that is 95% filler. I'm more upset that her label though it wise to not let her have more creative control of this effort. The two singles reek of "we need what we think is a hit" record industry paranoia. It's no surprise the best songs (Elastic Love, Birds of Prey, You Lost Me...and yes, even Vanity) are also the most adventurous she's ever done. I was rooting for her, but she didn't deliver like she promised.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with all of this. First, you should know this is coming from a gay guy who is actually NOT a pop music fan (or anything mainstream, for that matter). Yet, I am salivating all over these songs. Yes, the "Not Myself Tonight" video is a total rip-off of Madonna's "Human Nature", that's quite obvious, but videos are basically obsolete in this day and age.

Back to Basics was what you'd consider "filler". Bionic, on the other hand, is the best example of an artist experimenting with different sounds on pretty much every track (well, the best recent example, at least) in a way that is very unique and refreshing. I'm not sure what most people consider to be a flop, but, in my opinion, this is definitely not one. It's ambitious and soulful, while still retaining Christina's style. I haven't heard "Birds of Prey" yet, but I would say 98% of this album is amazing ("Prima Donna" and "Sex For Breakfast" are the only ones that kind of stick out as the weaker links to me)...

If you're going by what music critics say, you're in trouble, because their opinions are just as extinct as those damn music videos. I'd say this album exceeds expectations!

I respect your opinion (not usually into mainstream stuff here either) it's just not my cuppa tea, is all. The concepts are great, but she gets a D+ on her execution. I only read reviews to poke fun at them these days, so my opinion is all me....just like yours is yours. You should do yourself a favor and listen to Birds of Prey as soon as possible....it's the best song on the whole thing.

But after a few listenings the song is hot.. I mean this is no I'm OK, Fighter... but you have to admit it's catchy, and I could see it as a huge hit over the summer...

I would think "Vanity" would be cooler as a summer hit...But I doubt it'll be a single (too many "fuck"s and "bitch"es).
