Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Precisely. When it comes down to it, Christina hasn't expanded beyond her roots -- she's still a bubblegum pop princess who values style over substance. If her talent is so amazing, why does she continually rely on schtick rather than, oh I don't know, her musical abilities?

It's because she'll always be an act, not an artist. I don't care how many octaves she can sing, she simply doesn't have the chops to make it as a legitimate performer.

LMFAO a "bubblegum pop princess"?? PURE IGNORANCE. Is that why she WAS CHOSEN to do various tributes IN DIFFERENT MUSIC GENRES because she "doesn't have the chops"????? Is this is also why she has COLLABORATED with artist KNOWN for certain type of genres? Should I list all of those TRIBUTES & COLLABORATIONS or will you just google them yourself? She was a "bubblegum pop princess" but since STRIPPED she has showed the world that she's not and should not be put in the same league as Britney or Chestica Simpson.

BIONIC is about her having fun, if you don't like her then that's fine. But to dismiss her for not having "the chops to make it as a legitimate performer" IS PURE RUBBISH!

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Her vocals are overrated. She just yells. She has no melody to her voice. It's all power with no grace.
Exactly. It doesn't matter how many notes you can hit if there's absolutely no hint of emotion behind them. Christina is a nasty little shrew and it's evident in her harsh, obnoxious, shrieky voice.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

LOOL

You can diss, you can dislike, but sayin she's overrated is a lil bit too much in my opinion.

I'v seen her live, and she's very good.

She just sucks at promoting records and choosing lead songs.

Lately she has been doin nothin but messin things up. This album is complete chaos she needs to stop for a while and come back with somethin solid

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

LOL! You guys are really funny.

thanks for the giggles...
Sorry, I just prefer actual artists. Christina, Justin Bieber, the Jonas Brothers, et al., don't do it for me. :)

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^^..you just keep bringing in the laughs with those stupid comments LMFAO. To even put Christina next to those "artists" hahahaha you really are funny!

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

^You may not like Christina but to link her with the likes of Justin Beiber and the Jonas Bros is not only incredibly dumb but also incredibly disrespectful. I laugh at the notion that she sings without emotion? Have you not listened to 'You Lost Me', 'I'm Ok', 'Beautiful', 'Loving Me 4 Me'....I can on and on.

You don't have to like people but at least have the decency to appreciate true talent.

If people have watched her performance of "I'm OK" from Storytellers and still continue to claim she's "all voice and no emotion", those people either are completely deaf or don't know the meaning of emotion.

And that's just one example of many.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Look at these videos and then tell me Christina Aguilera aint a bad bitch?!

Oh Mother

Walk Away

Lift Me Up

What A Girl Wants

There's plenty more on Youtube. Now, of course she's had some off performances (show me a singer who hasn't) but very few can do with the girl can.

Lol! I love that "I'm OK" video, where she's clearly exploiting her "domestic abuse" situation in order to turn a profit. Boo hoo, Christina. Pretty odd that, for an autobiographical song, she couldn't even write it herself. Hmm...

And nope, I don't detect a whiff of emotion in her voice. She sings that little tune the same way that she sings her brilliant lyrics about her vag tasting like assorted baked goods.

Everytime I listened to I Hate Boys, I think of that target commercial.
It's also a ripoff of "Boys Boys Boys" by Gaga.

She actually co-wrote it with Linda Perry. The story goes that, during their first few meetings, Linda wanted Christina to open up more on the album, so she put her in the booth, and Christina sang the song in only one or two takes. While singing, she was emotional and started to cry (you can actually hear her voice cracking on the track). I don't think anyone is going to call Christina a profound songwriter anytime soon (she's had alot of help from different people throughout her career); but she does bring honesty and emotion to the songs to which she needs to bring them. That, to me, is what a real artist does.

....and "exploiting her situation in order to turn profit"?? What the hell? Domestic violence (especially witnessing it as a child) has a huge affect on you as a person, and she expressed that personal experience in a song (uhhhh, that's not unheard of, after all). I'm sure there are plenty of people who are thankful to her for being so honest because hearing someone else's account and knowing they're not alone in that experience helps them heal themselves. It wasn't a single, there was no video, and the first time she even performed it for people was at the Storytellers concert (probably because the song has a very heavy backstory and that's pretty much what that specific show is all about) - so I don't see how she's exploited anything.

And nope, I don't detect a whiff of emotion in her voice. She sings that little tune the same way that she sings her brilliant lyrics about her vag tasting like assorted baked goods.

Haha, wow....I seriously don't know what to say to this.

I actually think alot of the bashers in this thread would be singing a completely different story if she'd decided to do an album of all ballads, because it's clear those are the songs where she blows pretty much everyone away. But because she took her "pop princess" image from years ago and did a modern twist on it by doing more upbeat, fun, silly songs, people consider it forced or insincere, which is totally missing the point of the album.

Also, nobody ever said she had a great management team behind her. Maybe the choices of singles to put out have been wrong ones and maybe her record company is making mistake after mistake promoting this project - but that's happened throughout the history of music. You can't really blame the artist or say that they're the one fucking it up, because their hands are really tied in that situation.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

This album is flopping hardcore everywhere. To be honest I've never been underwhelmed with her studio albums like this. I'm so occupied with other better releases these days i.e Kylie's Aphrodite, Sarah's Laws of Illusion, Sia's We Are Born, Janelle's ArchAndroid that I don't feel like listening to Bionic... bad timing to release a weak album.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

What is the music world coming to when Ke$sha outsells Christina in first week sales. Bionic sold like 40,000 in the US this week. Drake opened with 400,000+ and Eminem is on track for 700,000+. What the fuck!? Where are her fans? smh

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Christina needs a MAJOR image overhaul. The tacky bleached hair and red lipstick is done and dead. And her attempt at electro music was just boring. Its just to tame to be interesting.

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Artists like Xtina and Beyonce have a singing style that relies on too much melisma and warbling that can be really off-putting to some people. Some people call this the ability to "sing", but it's such an extreme way of using one's voice. It's like she's been given a super-power she doesn't quite know how to control. I wouldn't exactly put on one of her songs to relax to, let's just put it that way. Christina herself has referenced this before Bionic was released by stating that she was working with Ladytron to 'soften' her voice. I compare her voice to that of Whitney Houston in her prime, but she exhibited MUCH better control over her voice, whereas Xtina is still so very raw. It's a little late in her career for her to still be coming off as sort of underdeveloped. She needs to find her sound/style and stick with it, instead of dabbling in so many different persona's and music styles she has no concept of. I appreciate her trying to branch out, but chica needs some consistancy....stat!
