The Christina Aguilera Mega-thread

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

Quinn I agree with your review in that she goes way overboard with her girl pussy power overtones in her music. It's like "we get it, your a strong, independent woman". I do feel like it alienates her gay fans a lot. She's always has always been a public supporter of the gay community long before it was cool. But her music doesn't reflect that. TBH I dont think she has many straight guy fans who wanna taste her "Woohoo" She needs to focus on the gays and girls who make up her base.

Britney, Beyonce, Gaga and even Rihanna have way more gay fans because they keep their music more neutral and don't beat audiences over the head with "I am woman hear me Roar" histrionics. They are successful at positioning themselves as the kind of girl that girls (and some gay guys) want to be and straight guys want to be with.

But the biggest thing which will prolly never change is she needs to STOP writing her own songs. She needs to stop trying to control everything and just worry about her voice. Her most successful songs are ones she didnt write. Whitney Houston is all over the place now but during her long success she has never written a single song. As much as I love Christina, she is way too stubborn to give up that control though

Re: Aguilera: Bionic [Spring 2010]

My favorite Christina song (so far) is without a doubt "I'm OK". Not only can I relate to the lyrical content + mood of the song, which always helps, but it's also one of the most honest things she's done. When she says "Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same", whether it's the CD or a live performance, there's always that little tingle on the back of my neck. Plus, the story of her crying on the floor while she was recording it adds to the emotion + atmosphere of the song. I think, before she wound up with Linda Perry, she was in danger of becoming too much of a perfectionist concerning her voice (a la Madonna) - but you can tell she learned the beauty in vocal flaws/quirks on that track.

Also, I adore "You Lost Me", "Save Me From Myself", "Make Over", "Monday Morning", and "Walk Away". If we're going with straight up glossy ear candy pop, "Vanity" is pretty amazing, too.

What happened to her face? Why does she look like a less-pretty Snooki?

Watch: Christina Aguilera's National Anthem Rehearsals Flawless

Christina Aguilera was so confident about singing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV on Sunday (Feb. 6) that she didn't even bother finishing the song -- which she nailed -- in on-field rehearsals on Saturday (Feb. 5).

In footage obtained by TMZ, Aguilera sings roughly half of the Star-Spangled Banner before abruptly stopping and leaving the stage. Although her practice went perfectly, Aguilera let nerves get to her on Sunday when she infamously replaced the fourth line of the song with a repeat of its second line. Watch below:

Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson to Honor Aretha Franklin at Grammys

Aretha Franklin will receive a special tribute from an all-star lineup of female singers, including Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and Florence & the Machine's Florence Welch, at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday (Feb. 13). Esperanza Spalding, a nominee for Best New Artist, has also been tapped to perform at the ceremony alongside students from the Grammy Jazz Ensembles and Grammy Camp.

Aguilera, Hudson, Welch, Martina McBride and Yolanda Adams will join together in a special segment that will features individual and collective performances of Franklin's biggest hits. The honor comes after the legendary soul singer and 18-time Grammy winner underwent surgery in December for an undisclosed illness. Although Franklin had to cancel all of her scheduled concerts through spring 2011, the singer said that her health was "superb" on "The Wendy Williams Show" on Jan. 12.

Ugh, i hate the way this is written because that wasn't a 'Rehearsal' it was a Soundcheck. So she was't saying "Oh yeah i've got this on lock" she was more saying "Yeah I get the acoustics of the stadium and the microphone levels."

Love her rendition of Ain't No Way.

They all nailed it, nobody tried to outshine each other. :)

So eight months later (I think) I finally really enjoy this CD, but the deluxe edition songs should have been on the regular CD (Birds of Prey and Little Dreamer are excellent songs).

And her management released all the wrong songs as singles. Prima Donna, Bionic would have been hits. Especially Bionic...are you ready, ready, ready to gogogogooooogoooo is so catchy.

She needs to go away for about a year. Change her look and come out with a great new cd. So many mistakes this past year it wasnt even funny.

Lmao! So Britney Spears is back, scoring yet another chart-topping hit and gearing up for the release of her most innovative and ground-breaking album yet... and Christina is getting arrested for being completely wasted in public. How the tables have turned.

Maybe she shouldn't have had all of those drinks before attempting to perform the National Anthem. :(

Well I guess on the bright side its a nice set up for a "COMEBACK" that people seem to be so fond of these days. ;)

I wouldn't worry about Christina. In lieu of this set of disasters people will think she's nuts and the rabid fanboys will scoop up her next album and usher in a comeback.

Hopefully by then everyone has gotten over this electro-pop shit and she does something different.

Sooo weird. She was drunk in her own car, and she wasn't even driving. Hardly public at all.

Don't laugh and don't be rude. :(

And I doubt Christina will be shaving her head and smashing in the window of an SUV. And Christina's bare feet have never touched a convenience store's bathroom.

Sorry but she's a horrible person and she deserves to go down in flames, IMO. I eagerly anticipate her impending downward spiral.
