Chapter 899 – Getting the Scoop and Developing a Plan of Action
My heart was pounding as I followed Toby through the brush leading to small private crevices into the cliffs. He held my hand at one point, guiding me, then occasionally ran his hand over my bare ass in an apparent attempt to appear sexually excited about what was about to happen. It didn’t bother me as I knew what he was doing. I trusted him like Stoney had trusted Toby and Griff. I knew Stoney wouldn’t steer me wrong. We finally arrived at a secluded area where it appeared no one could observe us. We had a little flat area where we could talk. Toby put a towel down and we sat beside one another.
“If someone comes up the path, I might suck your cock, Josh, just to show them there was sex going on here which was to be expected in this area. I just didn’t want to shock you, just so you know,” Toby advised me.
“Hey, nothing wrong with that, Toby. You can suck my cock any day,” I teased.
“Well under different circumstances that might be nice, but not these,” he replied. “Josh, we are under siege by a Mexican cartel. It’s bad, Josh. The bouncer you experienced last night at the door is one of the guys that keeps track of us and fleeces us continually. Here’s the deal. We have to pay them 20-30% of our revenue, plus they take the entire cover charge. We never charged a cover charge. They have their men stationed around inside the bar and outside the bar every evening and a couple during the day to make sure they get their money. If we don’t pay them, or in our case, allow them to steal from us, they’ll blow the place up and possibly murder Griff and me. They nearly beat one of my managers to death to get our attention. Josh, they don’t play around. They’ve even showed up at our house. Griff and I have come home to a dark house in the wee hours of the morning after the bar closes to find some of them in our house or in our pool, making themselves totally at home. They are well armed and just mean SOB’s, just evil people. Not only that, but they’re selling drugs also. Not so much in the club but around it on the outside, to the point, the area around the bar and other businesses are becoming a drug area. It’s terrible. It makes me want to cry. They’re like a mob syndicate like the old days in New York. You pay for ‘protection’ as they put it. You try to bring in the police and your place mysteriously blows up at night with the owners inside charred after the fire is put out, totally unrecognizable. Even the police don’t want anything to do with them, they’re that mean. Griff and I are at our wits end dealing with these guys. We’ve even thought about throwing them the keys and coming out to see you, just giving up as we can’t stand them in our lives. We have no life anymore. We might as well be working for them, which we really are when you think about who’s making the most money from the business these days,” Toby explained to my astonishment and horror.
“Have you talked to anyone about any of this, Toby?” I asked him. He looked like he wanted to cry.
“I have to be so careful as some of our police are tied into these guys, maybe not willingly, but have no choice as their families may be in danger if they act on anything. These guys are extremely powerful, very rich, well connected and well-armed. I just don’t know what to do, Josh. I’m afraid if we even try to close the place and sell the building we’ll be killed for doing it. It’s one of their cash cows and they’re not about to give it up without someone getting killed. So, I’m begging you, do you have anyway to see us getting out of this as Griff and I can’t keep on living like this,” Toby begged for an answer.
“I’m totally blown away, Toby. I could never imagine anything like this in a million years. Sounds like you and Griff have been constantly threatened. How can you live like that?” I asked.
“That’s just it, Josh. We can’t. It’s horrible. You never know if these assholes are in your house when you get home, listening in on your phone conversations or how deep they’re embedded in your lives. It’s awful, just awful. They show us videos on their phones of places they’ve blown up and burned to the ground. Not only that, but there are guys they’ve severely beaten also that had to be hospitalized. You either cooperate or they take you out. They’re just evil, Josh, just horribly evil. We don’t know what to do” Toby explained sadly. I could tell he was almost beside himself.
“How are these guys getting money? Do you pay them in cash or what?” I asked.
“Cash only. We have to keep most of the cashnwe receive to pay them their supposed cut. They either smuggle it back to Mexico or launder it someway to wire it back. One thing I do know is that it ends up in Mexico for sure,” Toby told me.
“That makes it a Federal crime. I don’t suppose you know if the FBI knows anything about this, do you?” I asked. Toby sighed.
“Hell, if they do, they’re certainly letting us take a lot of heat before doing anything about it,” Toby replied.
“I’ve got a close friend of mine that’s a senior agent for the FBI in the Midwest that is working on another case in Florida we just happened to stumble on. I’ll talk to him about it and see if they are aware of these kinds of shakedowns from the cartels. We have to end this, Toby. The money is one thing, but your safety and Griff’s outweigh everything else. They can’t intimidate businesses like that. See if you can get a burner phone somehow so we can communicate. I want to call my friend and see what we can make happen. I’ll explain to him that you’re being watched almost continually and communications are difficult. He’ll know what to do and who to reach out to. In the meantime, hang in there,” I told him.
“Griff and I have even thought of taking these dudes out, but there are far too many of them. They have like an army of men here in San Diego that exploit business owners. You take a couple out, then you deal with twenty guys that are out to kill you. You can’t win with these guys. It’s horrible,” Toby explained. I had to agree.
“I’ll go to work on this right away, Toby. In the meantime, get a burner phone and then call me so I’ll have the number. We have to bring this to a head right away and take these guys out,” l replied. He said he’d like nothing better than for that to happen. \
“Hey, in other news, business is great, but we’re not making any money because it’s all going to the cartels,” Toby remarked, making me smile. I told him we’d try to change that right away. “Josh, I’m so glad you came. I didn’t now how else to tell you what was going on. At first it sounded like they were just going to extort protection money, but instead, they like embedded themselves in our business and in our personal lives. They haven’t tried to fuck us yet, but I figured that wasn’t too far off as aggressive as they’ve become. I don’t think Griff of I could handle that. You saw the dude collecting his so-called ‘cover charge’ last night. Would you want that dude’s dick up your sweet ass? I can’t even begin to imagine anything like that as much as I love a good cock in my ass,” Toby replied. I grimaced at the thought.
“Okay, I get it. This has to end, no doubt about it. I’m going to make some calls to see what can be done about this. Get that burner phone and call my cell. Even if I don’t answer, I’ll have your number and can text you to see if you can talk. I’ve got to get hold of my contact with the FBI to see how we proceed from here,” I told him.
“Thanks, Josh. I knew you’d come through for us somehow. I can’t wait for this to end. I just hope no one gets hurt in the process. Griff and I will persevere somehow. It helps to know you’re at least working on our problem which is a hell of a lot more than what was happening up until this point. Oh, and, by the way, you still look stunning naked like you are,” he said with a hint of levity. I chuckled.
“At least you haven’t lost your sense of humor,” I chided. He scoffed at that. We both stood up, somewhat sweaty, and hugged. I assured him things were going to change for the better. He said they had to as he didn’t know how much more he and Griff could take.
Toby led me out of the concealed crevices. We passed by a few guys that were having anal sex tucked away in various places. Two guys were 69’ing almost on the trail as we had to step around them. Nice dicks, I thought but they could have found a better place to have sex. We finally made it back to the beach. Tom, James and Griff looked to us as if to ask if we worked things out. We sat down for a few moments, then Toby said he and Griff should go, but for us to stay there for a bit before we took off so we didn’t all leave together. If anyone was watching us, they’d think our rendezvous was a random hookup. They picked up their things and then headed for the trail up the cliff to the parking lot. When they were out of the picture, I told the guys what was going on, practically blowing their minds as mine was blown when Toby filled me in on the crisis at the Lubed Hole. Tom asked me what the fuck I was going to do.
“I’ve got to call Cal, my FBI friend and find out what can be done and how soon as we have to stop this madness. Our partners are in danger almost constantly and that needs to end,” I told them. They couldn’t have agreed more. I got out my phone to call Cal.
