Do you believe in the concept of Sod's law? That anything that go wrong, will, and good fortune can come despite of one's action? That sometimes it seems that a joke is played upon us?

No, why would that be a joke? If something can happen it will. Regardless of the "Karma" "good/bad" notions we often inflict upon other's actions.

Well, I am wondering if 2012 is some kind of cosmic or karmic joke.

I think so and I believe in karma... I have seen way too many cases of those whom treat everyone else like they are disposable and then that person gets exactly what they deserved...

karma is indeed a bitch.

Life is a joke as well....

It's usually called a joke because of the two notions.

The common example for the first is: You were initially several minutes late to an important meeting at work. You get stuck in a traffic jam that doesn't usually happen and your car breaks down. You miss the meeting.

The common example for the second is: You were informed it was going to pour down, so instead of walking, you bring your car and umbrella and raincoat. It is sunny and dry the whole day.

Thus the cosmic joke/divine joke.

Was he one of the Murphy's that originally developed this law?

Murphy's law indicates "If something can go wrong, it will". The context is not as wide as Sod's, but on which one comes first, I have no idea.
