The Dark Knight

:rotflmao: Oh God, I needed that laugh. Thank you.

The Watchman trailer makes the movie looks like nothing but a huge CG clusterfuck. Thanks for making me roll with laughter though. I was tired.

Have you read Watchmen? I don't know if it will do better than an already established character like this but the story is great and I can't wait. Any reason you are so against the Watchmen? Just curious please respond.

I am not agaisnt Watchmen, I am laughing because you think it could outdo Batman. It might have a great story, but what about the movie itself? The cinematography, the effects, the mood, the pace of the movie? How it will look?

Like I said, from the previews for the movie, it already doesn't look impressive.

Re: "The Dark Knight" sets new box-office records

Impressive but I dont know if its fair. How many other movies were shown at 3 a.m.

Well the reason it had 3 a.m. showings is because demand for pre-sale tickets was so high.

No movie at this point is gonna make more than Batman. it set all sorts of records. Watchmen isn't a book with known heroes. But it should get respect since without it this Batman movie couldn't have been made.

Re: "The Dark Knight" sets new box-office records

One thing I've never understood. Why is the focus so much on how much the movie makes? Isn't the number of tickets sold more important? I mean, as the years go by, ticket prices go up, and that makes it easier to break records. But isn't the number of tickets sold a better gauge to determine a movies place in history? And I never see or hear about those numbers.
I mean, no big deal, but that's always perplexed me.

"THE DARK KNIGHT" MAKES HISTORY AT THE BOX OFFICE

The new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" smashed the opening-weekend record set by "Spider-Man 3" last year, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures said on Sunday.

The hotly anticipated film, co-starring late actor Heath Ledger as the anarchic Joker, sold an estimated $155.3 million worth of tickets during its first three days of release across the United States and Canada, the Time Warner Inc-owned studio said.

That's more than the $151.1 million earned by Sony Corp's "Spider-Man 3" during its first weekend in May 2007.

Finally got to see it and OMG, was it absolutely amazing. I must agree wholeheartedly, Ledger's Joker was a performance that transcended normal acting. It was almost hard to believe that was Heath Ledger.

Christian Bale did an outstanding performance, the acting, everything was spot on. It was...awe inspiring. This is hands down the best movie I MYSELF have ever seen. It left me raw when I left the movie theater.

It will be near impossible for Nolan to top this movie with the third one. Hell, any movie he makes after will be judged by this movie. Good thing to, because it means he is less likely to ever drop the ball to far.

I am not talking about numbers. Batman will have that locked down probably until a Justice League movie is made. Most likely, the Avengers movie will take that cake. Two of Marvel's movies have already given hint to it.

I am saying that the Watchmen, no matter how good the story, is going to be able to top the movie itself. I even said that in the post you quoted.

here are the tallies!

LOS ANGELES (AP) Batman has sent Spidey packing as king of Hollywood's box-office superheroes.

"The Dark Knight" took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007 and pacing Hollywood to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday.

"We knew it would be big, but we never expected to dominate the marketplace like we did," said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros., which released "The Dark Knight." The movie should shoot past the $200 million mark by the end of the week, he said.

'Dark Knight' sets weekend record with $155.34M

as for the riddler being in the next film? i'm all for it! i think most folks only remember frank gorshin's and jim carey's runs but anyone who's been reading the comic book knows that the riddler is much more devious and cunning than either of those two interpretations. pick up the trades "hush" parts 1 and 2 and you'll see why. i honestly think the riddler nolan brings to the screen would be so much fun to watch!

Re: "The Dark Knight" sets new box-office records

And we can't forget it's being played in more theaters than any movie ever. So this thing was set up to rake in the $$$.

Well, that's how it works. If you have a hot movie in your hands then you need to get as many screens available to satisfy your costumers' need.

I just saw dark knight and I think it was the best batman made forget about tim burtons batman this was the shit the story the way gotham city looked the whole movie I didnt get bored once

God, I hope they leave Robin (and Batgirl) out of the pics. These Batman movies have proven to be much darker and more dramatic than any we've seen before and if they introduce Robin it will do exactly what it did to the last series.... camp it up too much and turn the drama into comedy.

Re: "The Dark Knight" sets new box-office records

I'm glad it has done so well. I hope it continues to rake it in. I am already anticipating the sequel. Do we know if it's a done deal? Has it been officially announced?

.

I think just the SIGHT of a 'Catwoman' or 'The Penguin' would ruin a new movie for me
nah I don't wanna see either of them

Now one character who I figure would be too over-the-top considering his powers would be Mr. Freeze
however
his "story" has always been one of my favorites and I truly feel Freeze is a victim
with his wife, greedy corporate businessmen, just the pain he had to endure...
I'm very sympathetic towards him and I feel like there would be enough complex drama with him to make a good movie plot
but the superpowers part kinda dashes any possibility I guess...

idk, i dont think Nolan would be scared of a lot of CG. And he would probably do it in a kick ass way.

Two-Face is dead. Nolan is trying to create a realistic enviroment and bringing Two-Face back wont work and would create too many problems in the story. As far as the next movies villain I think we can count out characters like Mr. Freeze, Penguin, and Posion Ivy because they are very hard to translate into the realstic type of character. Just look at how they were protrayed in the past... over the top and campy. That really isnt want Nolan wants (Though I could possibly see Poison Ivy as some kind of eco-terrorist). However I could see character like the Riddler, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, or Taila Al Ghul showing up in the next movie.

But here are some of my suggestions for the characters...

The Riddler - Paul Giamatti
Harley Quinn - Helena Bohnam Carter
Catwoman - Rachel Weisz
Taila Al Ghul - Monica Belucci
Poison Ivy - Jennifer Connoly

Since Christopher Nolan has stated repeatedly that he hasn't even started THINKING about the third movie, I think its fair to say that no one can say for sure about the fate of Two Face. As I recall Aaron Eckhart signed a two picture deal. The other majors (except Nolan) signed three picture deals. I think he's probably dead but until Nolan says so you can't say it for sure. It's two or three lines of dialogue - not really hard to work it out.

"I thought Harvey Dent died."
"They resuscitated him in the ambulance. He's been at Arkham under a different name but now he's escaped."

As heroic as what Gordon and Batman did at end of The Dark Knight was, there's a saying -the truth will out- Two Face returning could be how Batman is redeemed in the end. It takes nothing away from the end of this movie if in the long run their plan doesn't work out. One way or another by the end of the third film its more than likely that the public will learn that Batman is not a murderer.

There's a story line in the comics where Bruce Wayne has Harvey Dent's face restored but the psychological damage is so severe that Harvey eventually ends up deforming himself again in the end. There are so many possibilities there's just no way to guess at what the Nolans will end up doing.

The characters you listed are ok - the actors you've got listed don't work for me at all. Except maybe Monica Belucci as Talia.
