go to 6th grade class, go home, listen to records sullenly in my room. Try to pretend I didn't live in New Brunswick.

three story farm house.


5. what did u look like and what sort of clothes were u wearing in winter 1980?
I wore button-down shirts and suspenders a lot. I wore a lot of hats.

6.who were u staying with? any friends? relationships?
I was 12... living with my family and hating the people in the town I lived in.

7. how did u come to like the beatles and john? why?
I liked the Beatles as a kid.. fun music, but only the stuff kids would like.. Yellow Submarine and Sgt. Peppers. I think John was a bit of a knob, and that album he had just released when he died is so bad that had he not died, it would have gone down in history as the album that finished off his career. Double Fantasy is the smelliest turd in the history of Rock and Roll.

i know, i ve read the article but thats not where she s got it from. it was a complete accident. a lady started talking to her about when she heard lennon was shot inside a grocery store. just like that. a complete stranger came up to her in manchester and started telling her. any help appreciated.

Ok, ok - i was a kid - something in Kindergartern. My mother made me some porridge with brown sugar then placed some matching pants and vests on.

Then she said that my daddy was gonna be upset today because John Lennon from the Beatles was killed by a bad man, and that we should do something nice for him in school to make him happy.

So i made a painting of a beatle being shot by a bad man - he liked it.

It was a cottage in the country - my bedroom was plastered in posters

Whatever clothes my parents bought me - probably cheap crap. Suppose I looked like a typical teenager of that time

I was living with my parents and dating girls

I have never been a fan of the Beatles - I became more aware of Lennon's music due to the cash-in on his death - he was constantly on the radio

I had just turned 15 and was living in Cornwall

I can remember being pissed off that John Lennon was at the top of the charts

I was fighting w/the BF. We went to grab a bite at a deli and as we were sitting down the radio announced that John Lennon was dead, we didn't get the details till later. I said "yeah, so is Paul", then I realized the DJ was crying. Then she played "Imagine" And I knew it was true. I lived in a small beach town. The BF and I lived in a very cozy cottage. I kept my own room in a hotel down town. I had my books and records there and no one was allowed visit. I was a pretty, blonde party boy, which is why I was fighting with the BF.

I have older sibs, 2 of them were just hitting their teens so I was pretty well grounded in 60's music at an early age. When I was 6, the Stones and Beatles were my favorite bands.

Typical of the Yanks tho - you gave us the Brat Pack and we loved them, you gave us Elvis and Jonnie Cash and we adored them!

I have to say a few mean things.

First.. Double FAntasy is such a bad album that I kinda wish he'd been shot a year before so we never had to hear it.

Second.. How many bullets for John and NONE for Yoko? I mean, she was RIGHT NEXT to him.. sheesh.

Third... As horrible as it was, I'm glad I never had to hear THAT career grinding to a halt. Oddly enough, the songs that were partially recorded for his next album "Milk and Honey" were much better. "Nobody told me" and "Free as a bird" are much better than the rotten vegetables on Double Fantasy.. maybe he would have yanked it from the toilet.

finally, John Lennon had kinda become an Arse. I mean, it's all very well to lay there in bed strumming your guitar and going on about peace when you're an undraftable foreign national with a few million in the bank... many of the American teenagers (George W Bush notwithedtanding) had the option of not going to war, like it or not.
