He was pretty hot. Leukemia sucks. It runs in our family so it is a reminder of mortality...I will drink myself to death first, I think.

Sounds like Jimmy Carter is coming up soon.
To no one's surprise at his age, but he will be missed, nonetheless.

He remains one of the most desrerving U.S. presidents to have ever been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

A man of many paradoxes, he repeatedly upheld human rights principles that even contradicted his personal views, and most certainly helped defeat him in 1980.

Of all the presidents in my lifetime, he has been the least cynical, least duplicitous, and least self-interested.

It is hard to imagine us seeing his like in office again. He left office a defeated politician, but his inner focus and values saw him rise far further than any former president has in public opinion, and in world recognition for his good works.

Would that I could go to my rest with half so good a conscience for having accomplish helpful changes.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau passed away on September 28, 2000. His funeral on October 3, 2000, was attended by two men who came to offer their respects to a mutual friend. You may recognise them.

I'm not entirely sure that he has actually died, nor that he was in Beautiful Thing.

I love this man.

He will always be my favorite President.

I hope when he is passing he has peace. I will miss him.

I hope heads of state, from far and wide, come to honor this man and what he upheld. Interesting that Castro's suit looks custom-made, and Carter's off the rack. I think that is why I yet admire Carter, in part, that he was humble, despite his high office, in contrast to his wealth as a farmer.

What most certainly helped defeat him in 1980 was (and this has now been documented, though not as widely reported as it ought to have been) the Reagan campaign's deal with Iran to keep the hostages imprisoned until after the election -- and ultimately until just after Reagan was inaugurated.

That met the Constitution's definition of treason. So did Iran-Contra.

Amen, brother.

Jimmy Carter is, by a mile, the greatest ex-president in US history.

I remember reading that many years ago and my first thought was 'making the hostages suffer for political ambition'. Imagine that: holding the hostages hostage.

In violation of the Logan Act.

Followed by the Iran-Contra Affair where the Reagan Administration sold 1,500 missiles to Iran to negotiate for more hostages to be released.
