The Death List 2024

It feels strange for me to think President Carter is gone... He is the first president I remember. The election of 1980 is the first election I remember, although it was only on a very superficial level. Probably something along the lines of my teacher saying: "This year, class, America is having an election! Your parents will choose the next president!!!!"

(And, of course, some here will say my understanding of elections is very superficial even now. Or even brain dead. )

I don't know enough about his presidency to have an opinion. But I will say...I am impressed by some things he did later to make the world a better place. Rather than the approach taken by some other foirmer presidents, who simply cashed in after leaving office.

I figured that Jimmy Carter wouldn’t live past 2024. It’s pretty much downhill once you get to 95. My grandma was really active until that age and once she turned 95, everything went downhill and she began to be unable to physically do the things she used to do on a daily basis.

There appear to be some transcription errors. There's "thou" instead of "though" in the Biden piece and a missing "I" in the message from The King. Whatever happened to cut and paste?
Sadly, it is a sign of the times. In addition to the rush to publish luminaries' tributes, I am sure sloppy work is just endemic on the internet now. My link when I revisit it doesn't reveal any message from the king, unless you're referring to a separate site.

That is assuming letters of state were verified and correct at their source.

Speaking of glowing journalism, I read in this account of King Charles' condolences, only to learn that apparently G7 conferences were being held just 11 years after the Norman Conquest. And to think I scoffed at all the conspiracy theorists who went on about the Rothchilds. Tsk, tsk.

Probably a cookie problem. When I clicked on Page 2, it had nothing on it, repeatedly. Not worth clearing my cookies for that.

Here you go. I won’t quote the rest. They were from the King of Egypt, Mitch McConnell and Johnson.

It was with great sadness that learned of the death of former President Carter.

He was a committed public servant and devoted his life to promoting peace and human rights. His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember with great fondness his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977.

My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time.

My list for 2024.

Tippi Heddren
Valdimir Putin (wishing)
Eva Marie Saint
Bob Newhart
Jimmy Carter

Glad to see Eva Marie and Tippi made it through.

Actress Linda Lavin dead at 87
Not sure if that names rings a bell with a lot of people. A great actress, a wonderful singer and a really nice person. She had a 60 year career on the stage, including a Tony win. She also was "Alice" on the TV series based upon, the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" directed by Martin Scorcese.

She was recently cast in the "Sophia" role in "MidCentury Modern" a "Golden Girls" homage series featuring gay men instead of older ladies. Still acting and sharp as a tack in her late 80s.
