It's time to get the 2026 thread underway. Please continue to record 2025 deaths here:

As ever, please post your predictions for 2026 and then we'll see if they survive the year. Please stick to predictions rather than hopes as that just gets nasty.

Only two of my 2025 predictions have died, President Jimmy Carter and Pope Francis, so I'll carry the other three forward and add a couple of fresh names. Here's my list:

Dame Esther Rantzen
Clint Eastwood
Dick van Dyke
HRH The Duke of Kent
President Joe Biden

Your suggestions please!

Mel Brooks
Joan Collins
Sophia Loren
Nick Reiner

King Charles
William Daniels
William Shatner
Michael Cain

2025:

Eva Marie Saint ... turned 101 years old on July 4, 2025, and remains the oldest living Academy Award winner.
Mel Books...99 years strong
Isabel Peron...4 February 1931 to present...still hanging in
Jean Chretien....not dead yet
Mitch McConnell...even Hell won't take him

The surprise ones:

D. J. Trump (xx) ....if wishes were horses
Charlie Sheen.... god only knows

And I agree with Jimmy Carter, (only one I was sure about) but still think that Van Dyke has some spit left in him (Happy 100th)
And wonder about Bieber (because of Diddy)...seems ti have come through it.

So for 2026:

I still have a bottle of Dom at the chilled ready for Trump...but my picks for this year will include:

Imelda Marcos
Gene Shalit
Lee Grant
Clint Eastwood
David Attenborough

And then the list of those like McConnell, King Chuck and some others who likely have all the money in the world to stay clinically alive.

I’m going with Bill Clinton again this year. He just keeps looking worse. I’ll add Biden, with the cancer it’s a pretty safe bet.

I don’t think Trump will die on us. He’s going to end up the same senile old man that Reagan was.

On that topic, I strongly believe that DJT's death will kick off parties and rallies and celebrations, and that his funeral will actually be protested.

And he's earned every bit of it.

Predictions

Bill Cosby
Dick Van Dyke
Michael Douglas
Katherine Jackson (Jackson matriarch)
Donald Trump
Willie Nelson
Natalie Portman
Meredith Viera
Jenny McCarthy
James Franco
Phil Collins
Courtney Cox
Eve Marie Saint
Charlie Sheen
William Shatner
Sherri Shepard

And for the celebrity death that is most unexpected:
Anthony Hopkins

I predicted the Pope’s death in a dream literally the day before it actually happened. Then it happened again with Ozzy.

I'm going to add:

Reupert Murdoch
Bob Wagner

Oops:

Rupert Murdoch. Not that his death will be meaningful because Lachlan is no different thanhis old man.

I keep thinking Yoko Ono's number might be up.

Hell, if I'm going there, I'll throw in the two remaining Beatles:

Paul McCartney
Ringo Starr

I don’t think Yoko will go quite yet. She is Japanese after all and a lot of them live very long lives and she’s pretty active. I’m thinking that she’ll live to be at least 100 years old.

Everyone on my list for 2025 survived. I no longer sense the death aura on any of them, so none of them make my 2026 list.

For 2026, I sense the mortal coil reaching its end for:

Candice Bergen
Jair Bolsonaro
Gary Burghoff
Craig Ferguson
David Alan Grier
Michael Dukakis
Dan Rather
Susan Saint James
Lee Trevino
Ann Wilson

Wild card: Jesse Plemons

Robert Duvall
Robert Wagnor
Eva Marie Saint
Michael Caine
Corey Feldman
Shirley Maclaine
Vera Miles (the last major cast member from the film Psycho)
Ann Blyth

Wild card: Arnold Schwarzenegger for heart problems from a history of steroid use.

I think Clint Eastwood is going to hang on for one more year.

Ian Balding, racehorse trainer, father of broadcaster Claire Balding, aged 87.

I keep forgetting that Clint’s still alive. And I thought Robert Duvall died around 2014.
