So I just went and saw "The Descent." I was almost positive that I'd hate the movie, especially after the "Final Destination"-like beginning of the movie ... but amid all the stupid moves the girls made in those caves, and the creatures which resembled graphics off of Tool and Marilyn Manson album covers, I actually kinda liked the movie.

However, I really, really cringed at the incredibly lame last minute of the movie which pretty much ensured "The Descent, Part 2." I read in some magazine that our U.S. ending is different than that shown in England. Might somebody shed some light on the original ending?

My 'bottom line': Want to see a sophisticated thriller that might haunt you well into the nighttime? Go see "The Night Listener."

In the original ending, the whole 'escape' thing was just a fantasy. She woke up, found herself back in the bottom of the planet (panning out just to show how deep she was in), then cut to black.

Dude, screw sophistication, The Descent fucking rocks!

Ooooh! I want to see this so bad! At first I was going to write it off as a retread of "The Cave," but I've heard really good things about it.

Just saw this movie tonight and I tought it was great. I will say the first half was kinda slow but when the fun happened, it HAPPENED. They could've given us a big scare by not foreshadowing the appearance of the creatures. Regardless it was creepy and scary.

The best scare since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

It has nothing to do with a sequel. They wanted to give it a dark ending but not one that's too dark. A sequel would be easy just send down a different group of people.

At any rate, watching those chics pick-axe those Gollumites into fucking submission was still the most awesome thing ever!

Did anyone see a trailer for The Return with Sarah Michelle Gellar before the movie? If so, was it good?

Love trailer for the movie "The Descent." I know it probably wont be the best movie of the year but it should be interesting. I especially love the music in the trailer. Most of the time what convinces me to see a movie, in part, is the movie trailer music.

In my mind trailers are very effective.

I just saw The Descent on Sky and what Marvels didn't mention was when she woke up from the dream she saw her daughter again with the birthday cake but when the camera panned out she was alone. Then you just heard the sound of the creatures. This obviously indicated that she would die.

I don't remember it ending like that?

Glad to know what our movie distributors think of us, huh?
Reminds me of when "they" dropped the III from The Madness of King George because "they" thought the Americans would think it was a sequel and want to know what happened in I and II.

I just picked this up DVD and watched it by myself at 11 at night. I kinda wish that I didn't, now that I have to go to bed. But I loved it an dit scared the crap out of me.

SPOLIER:
So what's this about a UK ending? The US ending made me think that Sarah hallucinated escaping from the cave, and she probably ended up dying in the end.

Im pretty sure that in the version i saw the english one ages ago, it had like her getting away, and then its a dream or not dream but something that didnt happen, then she flashes back to cave or summit like that, and it ends with her just screamin in the caves. But i might be renembering wrong.

Original ending (I don't know the US-ending):
Running away from the wounded girl the main character stumbles. After a short moment of unconsciousness it suddenly becomes brighter in the cave. Over a mountain of bones the main character escapes from the cave and speeds away with the car. After a while see stops. She lays her head on the steering wheel and begins to cry. Then she's appalled by a truck that drives along. She opens the window and vomits. When she takes her head back into the car the girl she left in the cave is sitting next to her. She screams and wakes up in the cave. Her daughter is sitting next to her with a birthday cake. Then the camera goes backwards and reveals that it's just the burning torch which lies in front of her. You can hear the screams of the coming predators and the picture becomes black.

First she dreamed of her escape and when she wakes up she imagines that her dead daughter is sitting next to her with a birthday cake. She never escaped and will be killed and eaten by the predators.

XXXX SPOLIER ALERT!!!! XXXX

I thought the movie was awesome!!! It was so tense and really enjoyable. My favourite part was when the tougher girl had the hook in her hand and thought the creature was coming behind her and jabbed the hook into the neck of what she thought was the predator and it ended up being her friend. It was so emotional and she acted out of instinct like anyone would. It made the movie so real.

I definately recommend this movie to anyone who likes horrors!!!!
