Hey guys,

I have a dilemma and I don't know what to do. In November, I lost my job due to the recession. I currently live in a city that was hit very hard and there is just no jobs to be found in my field. I've tried looking in other fields, but I have not even received a call back, let alone an interview for any of the jobs I applied for. I do, however, have two job offers, but they are in cities very far away.

Normally, I would just pack up and move to the new job, but I met a guy here. I don't want to lose him. We haven't said the L word yet, but its just a matter of time. I don't want to move so far away from him, and I can't bring myself to ask him to move with me. It's just too big a step for us at this stage.

Meanwhile, my severance is running out and I think I can only keep up on my mortgage payments using my personal savings until the end of next March. What would you do in my situation?

Dump the guy and think of yourself first, OR try a long distance relationship for a while and if it works eventually he can move to u, or if it doesnt it can be a nice clean split. He'll totally understand :D

I wouldn't wait if you're paying for a house. Chances are, your house will not be sold for a few months anyways.

Yeah, the housing market is very bad here. Even if I could sell today, I would be selling at a loss and would actually owe the bank money. If I were to move, I'd probably hold onto the house and either rent it out or just sit on it empty. Hopefully, things would turn around and I could come out ok.

But still, I hate the idea of leaving. I've been single for 2.5 years and I finally found a great guy. What if he's the one? How can I give this up because of money?

Because face it, pretty much all that matters in todays world is money, sadly, you can find another boy.

Have you discussed the options with your boyfriend?

Sorry to hear about your job and the dilemma it has placed you in. Given that job prospects are very poor in your current city, I think you have to take the job in the new city and hope you can work things out with the guy. You may be able to keep the relationship going via long distance until you guys are at the point of wanting to live together. Who knows, he may not like living in your current city and may welcome the opportunity to relocate. If your relationship survives the distance issue, you will know that you have a strong relationship. If it doesn't, chances are that it wouldn't have worked in the long run anyway. I hope you can make lemonade out of these lemons.

Luka, your responses are very immature! Where is your heart? how can a Guy just give up a newly found boyfriend and you say just dump him?! Your heart is like cold stone. Learn to see a situation throught the other's eyes and heart; put yourself in his shoes. I myself am out of work, and applying for unemployment, medical, and foodstamps from the State. I am not in a BF situation, but I at least try to understand.

I would never stoop to the level of living off the state...LAME
