Anybody else watching this show? Cause I'm about to give up on it.

At least my eye muscles are getting a workout, from all the rolling :

Any curiosity I have left about who the aliens are or what the actual 'event' is, Ill read late in a blog or something.

I'm absolutely loving this show...I think it gets better with each episode

I agree....it started off with a bang and now it's moving really slowly. In shows like this I get tired of all the "levels" of bad guys too....there's always some new person pulling the strings when they want to make it more exciting or whatever. When shows keep doing that they pretty much end up imploding on themselves.

It's the 'Lost' effect, but they missed the point of that show. It wasn't the mysteries that kept us coming back, it was the characters. I don't care about any of these people and if Jason Ritter walks into helicopter blades I'll yawn.

The writing is terrible, just terrible, and the acting, too. What's with the president interrogating people?! He's the fucking president! And the two main characters (Jason Riter and the girl), who are so bland I can't even remember their character names...they get blown up by shadowy agents that show up out of nowhere, they escape, and then they stand out in broad daylight because they ran 2 blocks...surely that's far enough away to escape from an all-reaching mysterious paramilitary force! But it's not, so when...Shawn, is that supposed to be his name?...gets shot I was like, 'good, maybe he'll learn his lesson now'. And then they kidnap a doctor, which is totally from another show that I saw recently even though I can't remember which one, and then cops show up at the drugstore where they're buying medicine and ooh! that's scary, except nothing comes of it, except that when they get outside Shawns gone! oh no! But he's not, he just crawled off aways, and everything will be fine because when you get shot in the shoulder it really just stings a little until a kidnapped doctor can apply some gauze. Oh and he has massive blood loss but is somehow ok without a transfusion.

Here's a drinking game you can play, whenever the following happens you drink:

Character One: "I [need some information/you to do something] that will advance the plot, but my writers suck so just [give it to me/do it without question]!"
Character Two: "I can't, because someone I care about is missing and that's the only danger my sucky writers can come up with as motivation."
Character One: "I promise you I will do everything in my power to help you. You may not have any reason to trust me, having just met me, or I may not actually have any real power or ability to help, but my writers can't come up with anything more complex than this so just do it, we only have 20 minutes left in this episode."
Character Two: "Sounds good."

Bleh.

I really do love the show.

Not for what it is but for what it can be. After "The Event" happens they could take the show in multiple directions, at least in my eyes.

But to be fair I don't think the writers even know what the event is

*Partial Spoilers*

I mean the latest episode is ridiculous with how the VP gets away. The secret service sweep the entire medical building and the room the VP is supposed to be getting his "Check up" and they do not notice a door leading to somewhere else? Did they bump into a nurse or a doctor?

They need to explain who the bad guys are and who the good guys are and who are just caught in the mix because I do not know who to hate but I can honestly say I am getting tired of almost everyone

The only character I love is the Asian guy. The fact I don't even know his name says a lot.

You basically summed up everything I wanted to say. The show started out great but is fizzeling fast. There are so many stupid science-fiction plots it's rediculous, like the little girls with the old faces? WTF is that? And will the ever address it again? Probably not. And then at the end of this episode with the bad guy with the weird hair whose name I forget, his face changes. It's just stupid and not suspensful or mysterious.

And all the girl is good for is crying. Shut up already.

When Jason Ritter and the girl come on, it's time to zone out.

I'm giving the show a chance, although, yes, it has many flaws.

I DO like how they've worked a few funny historical references into the show. The Manhattan Project? All thanks to them. And Thomas has become rich using alien math to counteract the volatile stock market, and has channeled all his money / given advice to a BIG midwest investor. Warren Buffett gets rich on alien math, lol.

Yeah I guess I'm cranky about it because it has such a good premise, one that in MY hands, as a non professional writer even, could be made into something really interesting. Even after all this I still want to know what the actual Event is. But since I don't give a shit about the characters, there's no reason to watch the actual show. I can get just as much enjoyment out of reading the plot synopsis on wikipedia.
