Your posts bring up a good point that our optical perception, particularly face recognition, causes us to see faces all about us in nature, even when they are not faces literally. That same brain function informs craftsmen, like doll-makers, on how to capture the essence of faces with eyes that we relate to. In the doll or puppet shown, a human would be extremely diseases if his eyes popped out to the extent shown, but in a caricature, we instantly recognize it as a stylizing.

It's truly "amazing" how the brain and the crafter does that. Still amazing eyes.

No, and the shift away from amazing in a positive sense to images mocking that in a subversive mood is just part of freedom of speech. The thread is as good or bad or silly or serious as it is.
