The Fall of the American Empire

The major benefit of the American Era, if you care for that better but I think in my term of the Mantle of Rome, has been a largely stable world economically and socially with America reaping most of the benefits of that thanks to being the nation not only setting the rules but also having the most intact industrial infrastructure after WW II. If you think it is better for America to have the Mantle pass to China so we can save on costs so be it. Don't complain though when the Chinese Communists are setting the world standards.

The real difference between China and the U.S. in terms of government these days isn't ideology, it's pragmatism: China runs a meritocracy while the U.S. runs popularity contests. As long as China keeps making sure anyone rising to the top is more than erely competent, the U.S. will keep losing ground.

This is the first time in history that a superpower has financed its successor. Trump has been in office for barely one year, you can't pin this on him. Look at how Hillary sold out the uranium to Russia.

Rubbish and false.

The view of the U.S. around the world rests to a high degree on the President, so both that and the current ridiculous level of chaos in D.C. are Trump's fault.

As for the uranium, Russia has not gotten any from us, and Hillary had no input on the decision to which you're misleadingly referring.

I most certainly can pin it on him when the major driving factor is that his Administration is doing its best to convince the world that America is led by a clueless buffoon and that we cannot be trusted to honor our commitments.

If he doesn't get impeached or removed, the U.S. will also suffer from everyone watching Trump violate the Constitution and other law and get away with it. That will be a signal that it's not just one buffoon but the entire system that can't be trusted.

The US lost its position once it allowed China to finance the war of adventure in the Middle East. Blame that on Bush.

But when it comes to global leadership, the Trump doctrine will allow China to have full control of the arena.

The US will never recover. They will just be like Great Britain...a spent force.

And as long as so-called conservatives refuse to pay the debts Bush ran up with his mendacious accounting, and the rest of the debt as well, the U.S. will have no hope of recovering.

For those who like to refer to our Judeo-Christian heritage, the Bible says that if you owe money to someone, that someone is your master. So by having major debts to foreigners, the U.S. has made foreigners our master -- and by refusing to do anything at all to fix the debt, the G.O.P. is endorsing having China and others as our master.

Thus in terms of our Judeo-Christian heritage, is is not a great reach to call the current G.O.P. in D.C. by the name of traitors.

No, we along with Canada and Europe have made China rich by failing to compete with their low wage labor. The Middle East wars have not hurt us year nor has the resulting debt. Perhaps someday but not yet. China has acquired a lot of our debt, but our only obligation is to repay them with dollars—one kind of paper for another.
I am not optimistic about our future because I fear the loss of our people and great culture and the substitution of a hodgepodge of divisive cultures willing to accept authoritarian rule and a mediocre socialist economy.

The labor issue is a mixed one. By allowing U.S. companies to operate within their borders, countries such as China have encouraged their wages to rise faster than they would have otherwise, because U.S. companies there can't get away with paying only what the natural Chinese wage would be -- Americans won't let them get away with it. One result is that there are major companies now looking to move operations from China to Mexico, which while still in a different country is at least on the same continent, and boosting the prosperity of a neighbor always boosts your own. Trump would be wise to get Congress to offer tax breaks to any company moving operations out of countries not our allies and into the Americas, especially into our neighbors.

If you haven’t noticed, our stock market is at an all time high, unemployment is down, and wages are up. Economically we are still leading the world. America is great again until the Federal reserve pulls the plug for the 2018 election.

Wages are rising but are lagging behind other economic aspects, which in the long run will be a problem.

I don't know why Trump keeps bringing up the 'uranium' thing. He doesn't even know what it is:

I want to know what "bad things" he thinks are going to be done with uranium in the U.S., since the deal everyone is pointlessly whining about did NOT include authorization to export.

Money talks man. Look at the American stock markets are thriving. Check your 401 K and compare it to last year. You should be thanking Trump.

As for the uranium, WTF you talking about?

So essentially you are saying Hillary played Russia into giving her a bunch of money for free since they didn't get any of the Uranium. Sounds like she is the better deal maker than Trump. Maybe we elected the wrong deal maker.

If she played them she did a lousy job -- she didn't even go to the meetings of the committee that does those reports to the president. If someone's giving you money to do something, you should do it!
