the funky thread

Prince...America...My favorite song from him....

As bad as this sounds, post-humous I'm enjoying a lot of his music and especially the live performances that are being shared on youtube now that he's gone, knowing fully that it goes directly against his wishes.

Yeah...I know...I never expected to see his stuff on You Tube and frankly..I suspect it will all get pulled soon enough...

I love watching his live performances though....so as long as it lasts....

I loved Sheila E's Tribute to him too...ALOT. I know how they were in the 80s...so it was poignant for me to watch.

This is funk too.....

Ai No Corrida:luv: ....with Quincy Jones...Patti Austin....James Ingram...the Brothers Johnson....love this....

Patti Austin.....I love her:luv:..

I have so many vinyl versions of this....

I swear to god I posted an Al Jarreau [rip] video. Maybe it was in another thread. Maybe I've had too much wine. Fuck.

The Manhattan Transfer and Chaka Khan (I got this the first day it came out:luv: ) ...love both of them....

Did I just hear Chaka Khan sing in falsetto? I didn't think she ever did, never once heard her sing in falsetto not even for color. Stunned.

Yep...Chaka can do everything..dontcha know?

The Manhattan Transfer does alot of collaborations and the album "Tonin'"...they try to do different harmonies....

This is them with Ella...I think I got a hard on watching it when it was on TV...glad I found it on You Tube

(I kinda have a crush on Alan...since high school..the lanky dark haired one)

A great, AND ULTRA-RARE, funker from Los Angeles, 1976:

And, this one isn't funk, no, but an unlikely combination of reggae and...doowop! Canadian group...

A rare Miami 70's funk record, an instrumental:
