this spaceship house - known as the FUTURO was a few miles from my house when I was growing up in Dundalk Maryland (Baltimore County) - I (we) (everyone) visited it all the time - I always wondered why more people wouldn't want one of these - there are only 50 known to exist...

The was an exhibition... complete with a Futuro at The Rotterdam Kunsthal. They had many issues, but the most important one was that it was never really a part of the housing market.

From Frank Lloyd Wright to Buckminster Fuller, the house re-imagined has spawned lots of proposals and exhibits around the world.

The Home of the Future has to compete with the Home of the Conventional. A conventional home meets local building codes for habitation. A conventional home is buildable, repairable, insurable and sometimes affordable.

As a boy, I used to dream of living in the House of Tomorrow, as an old man I'm grateful to have any kind of roof over my head.
