The game of Life .... ?

Winners are those who live their goals to the fullest and feel self fulfilled and satisfied with their lives, no matter what their age.

But had Elvis avoided drugs, binge eating, coma-induced weight loss, and stayed married to his first wife he might be here today too. His talent didn't depend on self-destruction.

Life is not a tontine, and we are not players in the movie The Immortals.

In evolutionary terms, we "win" if we succeed in passing on our genes, especially if we better the species in so doing.

Culturally, we "win" if we pass on our genes more abstractly, benefitting our kind by inventing, endowing, or otherwise improving life for our progeny.

Environmentally, we "win" if we benefit the planet's ecosystem by helping a part of the the system, anywhere from feeding the birds to stopping erosion to growing a tree.

Personally, we "win" when we live fully, to our best potential, not necessarily our greatest impact. It is not winning to meet our potential by murder, theft, deceit, malice or evil. When history looks back, it doesn't admire the lives of Ramses the Great, Josef Stalin, Idi Amin. Power for harm is ultimately reckoned as dominance, which is not the same as a win.

Can you guys give 1 example of who is the winner ?
Hugh Hefner the playboy king is one of the winners in my opinion.

LIFE is Fatal! EVERY single One of us are going to DIE! I'm not sure I'd call that a "Win". [-X #-o

Enjoy the ride while you can! \:/ (!) (!w!) (group) :luv:

/\ Yeah, it's not like any of us will be showing up for the award presentation. :)

Bach, Mozart, Tesla, Pauling, and many others are examples.

Kuli and RB are but two members of this forum who have actively worked in conservation, planting trees, supporting wildlife and habitat preservation.

Lots of examples, and most people would name famous celebrities, but my whole point is that everyone can live this way. I will cite Dottie, a friend of mine who died a couple of years ago. She worked full time in the Employment Office. She was a good wife and mother. She was a spirited and charming performer in local theater and choruses. She was loud and personable and not unlike Ethel Merman.

When she retired from her full time work, she moved to Florida to be near her oldest son and his family. Once there, she started working on television there, made commercials, performed in theater, and had a ball. I admire her greatly.

Anyone with money, thats the way the world is set up now if you don't have money you have nothing. People's health is dwindling because of environment and hidden sugar fat and salt in food. Education is insane and you can only get it if you have money. Love is a difficult one if you can find soneone you can genuinely trust and who trusts you back then you've won but with the way the world and people are its hard to trust anyone.

I agree. Trust is crucial. However, I've found it is not as rare as a lot of people think. As with most relationships, you have to be willing to give that which you are seeking.

I've known many people who insist their trust has to be earned. I, on the other hand, will trust you immediately until you do something that betrays that trust. Quite a few consider that naive. And, yes, there have been a few times that I've been burned. There is risk in everything we do. However, there have been Far more times that I've met those who became life long friends, even when we loose temporary touch.

I still hold that Trust, Love, Care and Concern, Respect, etc., etc., etc., are not things that must be earned, but are things that can be lost.

As for money? I HATE Money! It does not care who does, or doesn't have it. It's worthless until it is used for something. The tunnel visioned pursuit of it distorts Everything. In relation to all that is truly Valuable, money alone ranks very low with me. Those aspects I mentioned above are priceless. Money, in comparison, is next to nothing. I know people who are surrounded with wealth, yet hollow inside.

It's far more simple than most would think. If you are genuinely happy, then you have won. You can be in this position at any age, it has nothing to do with accumulation of wealth, how many people are envious of you or if you are admired.
It simply means that you did the best that you could with what you had, that you are at peace with yourself.
