The Garden Thread

There are beautiful rose's here. But they are overgrown and in need of tlc. So I'm working on those.

Now that it's winter down here, everything's gone to sleep in my garden, except for the weeds of course! I haven't done any work in it for weeks and it looks a mess at the moment. Hopefully I'll be able to get into some serious pruning and clean-up work soon.

Oh Piggy, you are my favorite jubber (I register just to post in your thread, see! ;) )

I also live in apt, i tried tomato last fall, got 1 cherry tomato before I gave up. I'll try again this summer. I love the smell of a tomato plant.

I grow mostly fragrant flowers !oops!

here's a picture taken last fall

I love fragrance. I cant help it. :gogirl::rolleyes:

Ya, the problem last Fall was I kept it in too small a pot. And the cold/cloudy winter didn't help either.

I'd like to grow some bean this summer as well.

Here's part of my indoor garden, taken in March of this year:

I have the same luck. I can grow citrus and figs, but vegies hate me and die.

Feed you tomato's with a diluted coarse of organic fertilizer. Do this every time you water them.

Same for your squash.

Never let your vegies dry out. This causes stress and can and will kill them.

Or in my case the lack of water and the month long temps of a 100+ has killed my entire garden as well as much of the new landscaping I put in.

You can see pics on my FB page link in my siggy.

Also tomatoes hate high heat. Try to give them a bit of shade during the hottest time of day, IE. late afternoon.

Never water them at or near night fall, that encourages fungus and bugs. Do it in the morning or when you see them water stressed. Yes even during the middle of the day. They are in pots they dry ten times faster than in the ground.

And as always enjoy your bounty no matter the size.
