The Gay Barometer and the Missing A-lister Gays

Althought belamyi nailed it, I would add that we cannot have it both ways.

Our mantra cannot be Out and Proud and then cheer on closeted men who hide their orientation because it allows them the cover of respect and profitability because they literally are posing as straight males.

And, it doesn't come down to sex, but sexuality.
Actually, not: it comes down to one's choice of living life the way he or she wants. If one chooses to live closeted, that is a choice too, because it is one's life: one's choice is a fact, not a moral example or rule set for others. Sartre was as cockeyed in that judgment as popular philosophers usually are in the missed points.

The thing is that outing is about a sense of righteousness demanding to prevail in a restricted field of sexuality over the generally overbearing one: the hetero norm, to the point that it is called "straight".

I'm still wondering what it takes to be considered an 'A'-Lister.

"In popular usage outside the film industry, an A-list celebrity is any person with an admired or desirable social status. (...) Even socialites with popular press coverage and elite associations have been termed as A-list celebrities. Similarly, less popular persons and current teen idols are referred to as B-list celebrities – and the ones with lesser fame as C-list ones.(...) In 2000, Entertainment Weekly interpreted a C-list celebrity as "that guy (or sometimes that girl), the easy-to-remember but hard-to-name character actor".(...)

The D-list is for a person whose celebrity is so obscure that they are generally only known for appearances as celebrities on panel game shows and reality television."

^ I can't think we'd be including any of these a 'A' listers. Particularly Grenell.
