The gay dna

Well, let's say you've got a baby coming. And you can alter the genetic make-up any way you see fit. Do you make your child good at math? Well, why not? That can only be a positive, right? That doesn't mean people who ate bad at math are diseased, or should be bred out of existence. You just want your kid to have it goid, right?

I think it's the same thing all the way across the board. People want their child to have it easy, and "staight" is still easier than "gay".

Lex

i see what you're saying but i just don't think nature should be tampered with. you know, science is great and all but some things should just be left alone. i felt that i was born the person i am and my parents gave me a chance to let me be me. if they knew that i was going to be pigeon-toed or wouldn't be able to talk until i was 5 because of some development delay issue, who knows what would have happened? i feel my child deserves the same chance. not to merge this issue with abortion because i am for it but i just feel that it's up to me to determine what characteristics my child will have.

Can't find the original site it came from, but this pic was from a shirt someone did...

It is unlikely that gayness is determined only by DNA. The way evolution by natural selection works is that genes that give you characteristics that promote effective reproduction will be maintained, and preferentially passed on to offspring. Any characteristics that make you poor at reproduction (being blind, the wrong colour for the climate, gay etc.) will be progressively filtered out of your offsrings' gene pool.

If it were only up to DNA, gayness would have been filtered out of the genes long ago, just as genetic diseases that make you infertile are never hereditary. They may occur occasionally due to random mutations, but it's not inherited.

There may be certain genetic combinations that can enable or disable gayness - if other environmental factors come into play, as is the case with some diseases such as cancer.

^^^ What nitrogen base does 'Y' represent???

And identical twins. If gayness was purely and entirely genetic, all identical twins should share the same sexual orientation, but it's not the case.

I find it amusing that some guys absolutely insist that homosexuality is totally, 100% genetic. Why? Why can it be a combination? Why can't you just accept that each and every one is different for different reasons and accept it?

Lex took my thought. It was made fun of in X-Men with eliminating the X gene. Kinda like Bobby's coming out. Honestly, these silly people. What will they think of next? We were once considered retarded. Maybe once they realize all people have bisexual leans, then they will leave it. I mean, we all kniw who is hott and not from both genders.

Genetics are not the end of biology. Being gay doesn't necessarily have to be genetic to be inborn. Similar to the BBC article linked above, a previous study found that the sexual orientation of rams was caused by exposure to hormones in utero. They actually found that they gay brains had developed differently after being exposed to more testosterone than normal.
