This is Matthew Rhys who plays David on "Brothers & Sisters."

When I saw the pilot episode of "Brothers & Sisters," there was a little too much going for me to find it all believable. But by the second and third episodes, I've really connected with the characters and I like the relationship forming between the gay brother, David (Matthew Rhys) and his gay client, because the gay brother is a lawyer. The gay client says that although David is out, he still tries to pass for a straight man at his job. But then the gay client is invited to David's family get-together and David happily eats the cupcake his gay client made. It may sound corny, but there's a genuine chemistry between these two. Plus, I love the phrases and statements of wisdom. I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop David's relationship with his client. :D

I completely agree. I was lost during the first episode, but during the second episode I fell for the show. When he ate the cupcake at the end of the third episode, he looked surprised. Hopefully, that was some foreshadowing for how the relationship between the two will grow. I don't really know, but I am in love with this show. I can not wait until next week.

I really don't like how they haven't given him any serious plotlines where he goes on any dates or have romantic moments yet. I really hated how this week's episode all they had him do was go on errands & dates with his mother. Granted I love Sally Field but I hope they give him something better to do than go to the movies with mommy.

Just read where it was picked up for the full season. It won its time slot.

Yeah they haven't given him many plotlines, but his character actually comments on how he's the only member of the family who has no life; the one who always goes out with mom. I felt bad for him when he was at the movie theater because he really wanted to go out with that guy, but just because his old mom is feeling depressed, he has to be the one to sacrifice his happiness. It ain't right. That's his mother, but damn. :(

Is it just me or does "Brothers & Sisters" have one of the most clever scripts on television? And I'm loving the storyline with Kevin and his boyfriend. That's the cutest thing I've ever seen. The part when Scotty tells Kevin that he can read him like a comic book, and then Kevin is pissed that Scotty compared him to a comic book and Scotty responds, "but I love comic books." And the end scene at Kevin's apartment took the cake. Well, it was more like the icing on the cake for me.

Has anyone else noticed that Scotty didn't act as "light" as his first appearance. Actually, he didn't act light at all, he actually acted like a typical straight male. I'm even talking about his voice, his vocal inflection is not feminine at all. You can tell he doesn't naturally speak with a feminine inflection. Plus, Scotty is a surefire cutie. I don't know, that's just something I noticed. ;) Bottom-line: I LOOOVE this show!

We watched (discovered) this show tonight for the first time...

It's 'OK', it's got a GREAT cast, but it struggles to be a good show
within the restraints of ABC, a 'public broadcast' station.

It's the 'slap dash' editing that troubles me.

We can't see the same image for more than 5 sec before it cuts to the next scene.

It's 'thought provoking' TV for the 'MTV generation that can't afford HBO.

Rachel Griffins is my very FAV of the TV actresses out there, (Six Feet Under) But, she's given precious little time to display her craft.

Sally Field, (looking FAB at 60-plus ! ) is another wonder, but again, we see her only in brief glimpses....

Plus, the gay storyline seems to exist only to shock the square red states long enough to compose themselves before they run out to the Piggly Wiggly to buy their next tub of Cool Whip.

A step forward for us ?

Perhaps.

But, until then.... pass the Kool-Aid.

The gay storyline didn't really get played much until tonight, up till now it was just building. Other than a long, unhidden kiss I'm not sure how the gay storyline is shocking red staters. I'd hold off judging it until you see the previous episodes. Sarah (Rachel Griffin) has had plenty of screen time, this was the first episode where she didn't have a ton of face time. Same for Sally.

Exactly Mattie. And Joshua, I don't how you can watch the previous episodes, since I don't know when ABC will reair them, but just give it a chance. I know we have different opinions, but I think you'll really appreciate "Brothers & Sisters." I have a good eye for television and this one sticks out to me, while something like "Ugly Betty" does not. ;)

is it just me or all the guys in this show hot? (except the old fart Sol)

This is my favorite show on TV right now. I like most of the characters so far.

The Kevin/Scotty thing was cute. The scene in Kevin's office had me cracking up, "Bring him, he was kind of hot" lol. Then at the end with Kevin jokingly closing the door in Scotty's face. It was cute.

The story with Nora and the contracter guy was hilarious. Especially when Kevin was there to see Nora get asked out on the "date". On a somewhat superficial note, the actress that plays Holly really annoys me. At the restaurant, she had a weird voice and talked out of the side of her mouth like Popeye or something, and it distracted me. I haven't really noticed it in previous episodes though.

I reallly like Sarah. The character seems a little too weepy at times but Rachel Griffiths does a good job in the role.

Kitty with the intern and her co-worker thing was funny as well. Also, the phone-sex part made me laugh. I'm glad she broke up with Jonathon though. (Although I'm not quite sure when exactly they got back together in the first place).

The younger brother, Justin, is cool. I wish they went more into the story with his boss from last week, but the story as his nieces friend was cute. It probably would have been to much for his character have a deeper story than that this episode.

The middle brother that is in a fight with Justin annoys me.

Overall I love this show. The script and dialouge is the best I've seen in a long time. I'm glad to hear it was picked up for a full season. With every episode it keeps getting better and better (in which its lead-in DH suffers from the exact opposite). I hope the writers and actors keep up the good work.

Yeah, he'll always be known to me as creepy Sloane from "Alias." No matter what role he'll play for the rest of his career, I'll always think he has a secret evil plan he's scheming to pull off or something....LOL

Kitty on the other hand gets on my nerves. Poor, precious Kitty. Don't put up a picture without precious Kitty in it or she'll be upset. Do or say anything to annoy precious Kitty. Let's not have an opinion that Kitty would not approve of. Let's not have sex because poor Kitty's relationship is on the skids. Everyone's life has to revolve around Kitty.. well..... Marsha, Marsha, Marsha......

The gay lawyer brother is cute but the guy he is dating is a hot mess i dont like them together. Lawyer gay can do way better that him. I think the guy is only with him for his money. I think the druggie brother is cuter than lawyer brother.

Well.

Bottom line, this show has the potential to be *great*, but I just wish
it was on a 'pay cable' channel so it could be a touch more realistic.

Still, I think it's the best new show of the season.

Faint praise, I suppose.

For network it's way better than most of the stuff out there, definitely my fav new show of the season. Good writing, good acting and the above-mentioned eyecandy make for a great hour.

Finally one night of the week I can be entertained for 3 hours (TAR, DH as well) in front of the TV.

I felt the same way until this Sunday's show.
The Last scene of them together, with Scottie apologizing for basically being a jerk, worked for me. Now if he can stay of his high horse and stop being such a piss ass queen there may be some hope for him. Anyways the scene ended with the two of them together so we will see how it develops. I am still just a tad skeptical but I am keeping am open mind. However, they do seem to be like oil and water together. Opposites attract??
Oh, and yes I much prefer the "druggie brother" did you catch him in the locker room at his new job getting dressed with his pants open? Nice glimse of his stomach and undie waistband

Speaking of that, there's gay guy I know who calls himself a "queen" and some days he has a major attitude. And a lot of the "queens" we all see in the media and everywhere else tend to have a pissy attitude. Do you think it's because they've experienced discrimination growing up? I'm sure this has been talked about a lot, but it just came to my mind. ;) I was so happy that Scottie actually had a varied personality because if not, he would just be a static character and not dynamic. It's like Heather Chandler from "Heathers," her character remains a one-dimensional bitch. She shows no sign of remorse, but then again she didn't have much time to. lol

Dammit I missed Sunday's episode. What did I miss? I only care about about the Gay storyline, lol.
