The gay storyline on "Brothers & Sisters"

Ok after watching tonight David and Scotty have my support. They really work well together.

I also like how the family is so accepting of David and Scotty. I believe Scotty is genuine and not a gold digger so all the best to them.

The writing on this show is very good.

I am now hooked on this program. Largely because of what you all have written thus far here in this thread. I tuned in while doing my reading homework and was just so floored to see two guys kissing and dancing and just being 'normal' and no one giving them flak for it. And it's on one of the big 3! Stuff like this would ordinarily only be on cable. Now I'll need to see if I can get the previous episodes on torrents. Thanks fellas.

It would make a great cable show, Showtime or HBO. imagine the possibilities:sex:

*Exactly* what I'm saying !!

A great cast, with writers that have to hold themselves back because
saying 'Fuck' might make the 'red states' go poopie. ;)

It's frustrating, 'cause this could be such a GREAT show....

Ahh well.

Kevin: Do people underestimate you a lot?
Amber: It comes with the hair.

I think Scotty is great. Between him and Kevin I think Kevin is the one who's the bigger mess. He's comfortable with himself and likes what he does.

You're saying that Scottie is more comfortable with himself right? And that Kevin the lawyer is more of a mess. I agree, for now Scottie seems to be the one who has it together, but time will tell. People seem like they're a lot of things until different situations bring out a different side of them. That's what I love about this show: I now it's a ficitional television show, but all of the actors have convinced. It feels like I'm watching people's lives. Plus, the script is ingenius. I love the political jokes, but it's not just jokes that make the script good, it's the lines in general. For instance, the one that stopped me cold was when Justin's hotel boss told him that he "made the future look easy." I've never heard that phrase before. That phrase has such a power to it. I'm putting it into my vernacular now. LOL :D

Last nights episode was another good one.

The Kevin and Scotty relationship is getting so cute that it's starting to make me a little bitter LOL. Kevin going around asking people if it was OK to offer to pay someone their lost wages while on a date with him instead of working, was hilarious. The growing remorse in his face as each new dance partner disagreed with him made me laugh.

I love Kitty. The tension filled banter that she has with her co-worker guy is always so witty and clever. Great job from the writers. Also, the dress she was wearing at the party looked fab on her. I'm glad to see that Callista isn't looking so skeleton-like lately.

Justin and his boss are great together. I imagine that going on a first date where the guys entire family is there would be pretty tough. She seemed to handle it quite well.

I loved the development of Sarah and Nora's relationship. First with Sarah caving in to the party because she wanted Nora to have her dream night as "The Kennedys." Also, the scene with Nora and Sarah after the big secret was revealed was very touching.

Although I am still not a big fan of Tommy, the whole sterile issue made me feel sorry for him. P.S. Has anyone noticed a huge resemblence between Tommy and Pacey from Dawson's Creek?

Holly's voice still drives me crazy. And Saul is kind of creepy.

And aww, the family all dancing together outside (minus poor Kitty who had no +1 :(). How great to see the family coming together during the tough times.

Have I mentioned I love this show?

We watched the show for the first time last night, and we LOVED it. Especially the KISS between Kevin and Scott. This is our favorite new show of the season.

Its a great show. I cried several times last night. I love Kevin and Scotty so much. And Kitty is great too. I wish Holly would go away

Last nights ratings were up compared to previous weeks. Hopefully this show can keep building its audience and become a big hit!

This is one of our dont miss shows. I hope it keeps going the direction it is in character and story development. Everything seems "real" vs made up like so many of the shows seem to be these days. I enjoy some of them as well, but I think they have a great thing going here and just hope they dont muck it up.

Tis a good show.. glad it got picked up for the full season. Initially, Kitty got on my nerves. Now, I just tolerate her scenes. This show has the hottest male cast I've seen.

  1. I love Amber.
  2. Kevin needs to lighten up a little.
  3. Scotty, adorable. Kevin is gonna ruin his relatonship with him.

  1. Agree with the first one, but not the second two.;)

I am shocked that the family was actually getting mad at Kevin for not wanting to be a sperm donar for Tommy and Julia. I mean, give the guy a break, it is something that shouldn't be taken lightly. Sarah actually called Kevin selfish for not wanting to have a baby with his brothers wife.LOL. If I was in Kevin's shoes I would do the same thing.

Arg, more drama between Kevin and Scotty. I'm a little tired of Scotty.

Nora had some great lines in this episode. At the end when she said something to the contractor along the lines of "My family is usually really nice...when their not fighting over sperm" had me cracking up.

The whole cabin setting was nice. By the end it made me sad that they had to sell it. The writers did a good job making it feel like there were a lot of memories there. The scene with Kitty and Nora saying goodbye to the cabin was really sad.

Last night's episode had the second highest ratings in the shows history, behind only the premiere. Glad to see it is increasing its numbers every week!

Wow last night was SUCH a good episode!!!!!! Sarah really needed to get her nose out of the whole "sperm" business. How dare she make her brother feel like shit for not considering at the time.......I'm glad the brothers patched things up a bit!

I too got a little teary over seeing the brothers patch things up.
I sure hope we have seen the last of Scotty, he really annoys me.
Imagining what the two brothers were doing at the sperm bank was a turn on
Love to have seen what went on behind closed doors:badgrin:

Maybe it's just that Kevin is the type of guy you'd like to meet one day
That's probably true. hehe

I don't know. I don't hate Scotty, just not a big fan right now. My feelings might change on Sunday though. ;)

In ratings news:
The official ratings for the week of 10/30/06-11/05/06 came out yesterday. "Brothers & Sisters" is hovering right below the Top 20 with 13.5 million viewers. In comparisn, the 20th ranked show, E.R., had 13.8 million viewers. "B&S" also beat "Without a Trace" on Sunday, making it the #1 non-sports program in its timeslot. This was also great time to rise above "Without a Trace" considering it is sweeps week. That should look promising to the execs at ABC. I hope it keeps on the uptrack!

I think the show needs to explore Kevin's anxiety over his sexuality more like with some flashbacks or something? Scotty is open minded and very comfortable with himself and that's good. But Kevin works in a corporate environment as a lawyer he could lose clients if they knew he was gay. I like Scotty but I want to know more about his life. I wonder if they could flesh it out a bit more?

Damn! I love this show. I'm going to have to get cable soon. Seriously. (I hate moving!)
