I just saw the film today and it is really intense. :) It is a popular Swedish book that I hear is going to be made into an American movie. I have a feeling that the Swedish film will be better so if you get a chance to see the Swedish version that is out now, go see it. ..|

Saw the movie too and loved it! I highly recommend it. See it before Hollywood ruins it with a remake.

If you thought a thread belonged in a different forum, you should've contacted a moderator, not started a redundant thread with the same exact content.

Just started the book.

I Never see the movie first. Reading lets your mind tell the story whereas film tells you the story.

For me, reading is more satisfying.

David Fincher Not Directing 'Pawn Sacrifice,' Doing 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Next

It seems news reported earlier this month that David Fincher was going to direct "Pawn Sacrifice," the 1970s-set chess drama with Tobey Maguire attached in the lead, was not entirely accurate. According to our sources, while Fincher did take a meeting with the filmmakers to "help them out" in what we imagine was an advisory role, we've been told he was never in the director's chair and is not going to be.

However, we've confirmed that "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is definitely Fincher's next film. Already adapted into an award-winning Swedish language trilogy, the English-language version is being produced by Scott Rudin at Sony with Steve Zaillian ("Schindler's List," "American Gangster," the original draft of "Moneyball") currently writing the script. Shooting is set to begin in September or October, presumably once Fincher finishes press rounds for "The Social Network."

As we previously reported, Carey Mulligan was on the studio wishlist for the lead role of Lisbeth Salander but that seems to be as far as it's gotten. As Mulligan herself confirmed, she's not received any official calls regarding the role and we're not surprised considering the script isn't finished. From what we hear, Fincher wants an unknown for the lead role which would prove to be an interesting gamble for such a high profile project (not to mention a major coup for whoever lands it). That said, Sony are reportedly very happy with the result of "The Social Network" and we don't imagine they'll get in the way of Fincher casting the project the way he wants.

With this news, we're not sure what this means for "Pawn Sacrifice." But if producers were meeting with Fincher about the project, it might mean he was giving them direction, notes and possibly filmmaker suggestions, but who knows if it will go in front of the cameras soon. It's also pretty safe to say that the 3D animated "Heavy Metal" that's now being shopped around town will be a way off as well, but then again Fincher won't be directing it entirely alone either.

you really should. As most of Stieg Larssons movie's it's very good. Why they constantly need to remake them is beyond me.

Great film, one of the best this year.

I take exception to the conclusion-jumping going on here.

If the American film is based on a book, how is it a "remake"?

If someone makes another Macbeth film, is that a "remake" of Roman Polanski's Macbeth film from the 70s? No, of course not.

David Fincher is one of the best directors around. Steven Zaillian is a brilliant screenwriter. To write if off before you've seen it is idiotic to say the least.

^ I have seen the other US remakes of successful scandinavian movies.

Saw the sequel this past weekend. Good but not as great as TGWTDT.

Let Me In? So what? Its different film-makers. You're writing this one off for THAT reason?

Its David Fincher for christ sake. You do realise that the director of the original GWTDT took his style from Zodiac and Seven dont you?

Yes! The US version excites me a lot!

Not a fan of the swedish movies, but I'm a HUGE fan of the books - and a Stieg Larsson widower... :(

The trailer looks amazing, but I have a big problem with the poster. I think it goes against Lisbeth's character, she's not the kind of person that would go gratuitously topless - at least not before her boob job on book 2! :P

Official Girl With The Dragon Tattoo teaser online

Less blood, same cool

A bloodless but by no means anaemic new teaser trailer for David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been released online.

After the leak of the film’s red band first teaser over the weekend, this new, official teaser is basically exactly the same, just minus a few shots of Daniel Craig covered in blood.

For those who still haven’t gotten acquainted with the titular tattooed girl, she’s Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), and is a computer hacker who ends up helping journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) as he invstigates the disappearance of a young woman years ago.

Check out the teaser below...

the film's Mouth Taped Shut blog has posted new visuals. The clip, which clocks in at just under four minutes, is less of a trailer than it is a teaser or promotional material for the movie-- the eerie, slow-burning video shows the process of the film's posters being made.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo opens December 21; watch the new teaser below.

I went through the trouble of downloading this only to see that it's subtitled. Not impressed. TOO MUCH EFFORT

The movie is awesome.

I can't wait for the American remake of it. The sight of Daniel Craig is enough to drive my prostate craz-craz.

I just watched it and am moving on to the second and third films. An excellent film with brilliant performances, but a lot of the scenes (particularly near the start) were so confronting.
