The Girls Scouts promote abortion and homosexuality says Indiana Republican lawmaker Bob Morris.

He is a republican representative from Indiana. He's so concerned aobut this he pulled his daughters out of the Girl Scouts and put them into something called the American Heritage Girls.

Why does he say this? Because he did some internet research and discovered the Girl Scouts are a "tactical arm of Planned Parenthood" and in Colorado the Girl Scouts accepted a transgender girl.

Even his republican colleagues are scoffing at him for this.

How do people like this get elected in the first place? Think before you vote, Republicans! People like this guy are doing a great favor for Democrats when they talk like this.

By the way, I feel sorry for his kids to have such a crazy father like him.

Another Republican nut case. These comments are as stupid and blatantly false as that nut Campfield's from Tennessee are. Just google Stacey Campfield and look at what he has to say about HIV and AIDS. He's also responsible for the bill in Tennessee that makes it illegal to say gay in schools. As for the Girl Scouts, I echo the comment above me. How some of these people get elected is a mystery to me.

I always thought that the GS was a front for radical lesbians.
 
Actually, they sort of do promote homosexuality and abortion. They have been promoting themselves as an alternative to the Boy Scouts, and have been allowing boys in, pointing out that they allow boys that consider themselves gay in, and that they won't fire male den mothers for being gay. They can also get badges for knowing various birth control methods, as well as how to deal with pregnancies.

So there is some truth to it....

The Pennsylvania council or something proposed a merit badge of birth control. Public opinion kept them from adding it to the program. Some anti-abortion "pro-life" right-wing websites latched into it as never paid attention to the fact it didn't actually happen.

Sorry; I keep hearing about the one Kuli mentioned. At the same individual groups are allowed to affiliate with Planned Parenthood as desired, and one group's endorsement of a Planned Parenthood education event (Waco, 2004) earned them some ire.

First, were not just talking "not shunning"; we're talking there is some recruitment going on, especially at for leading troops. From the other side, I can sort of see where "promotion of gayness" is a valid point, and I'm not sure that it's a bad idea ("promotion" in this case meaning saying that it's okay, and not necessarily forcing a so-called "lifestyle change").

One thing people forget about the Girl Scouts is that regional, state, and local groups have a lot of autonomy. It's entirely possible for there to be multiple "official" positions within the organization, even mutually contradictory ones. It's entirely possible for an activity girls are cautioned to avoid in one area to be the subject of a merit badge in another.

Also worth noting: the "Birth Control Merit Badge" was never about using birth control, anyway, but about understanding it. Given the latitude of application in the Girl Scouts, a girl in one town (had it ever actually been approved) could have gotten her merit badge with a final essay arguing how great birth control is, while another down the road thirty miles could have gotten it with a final essay warning how birth control will destroy the nation.
 
So basically just another right wing horror fable.

This is just another arm of the GOP/Conservative/Evangelical movement to declare war against Woman.

A Woman's place is in the home; barefoot, and pregnant.

Anything that deviates from that message is "pro-gay, pro-abortion" and "anti-God and Guns."

Exactly who isn't the GOP at war with?

They're at war with: Women, immigrants, gays, welfare mothers, Muslims, unions, the educated, minorities, the elderly, the disabled, minimum wage workers......

....wait, that's everyone except wealthy, white, Christian, heterosexual males!

That's a tiny minority in it's own. No wonder why they have to recruit voters by appealing to the frightened, uneducated and uninformed bigots.
