The Goddess of Pop: The Official Kylie Minogue Thread

"Kylie Minogue states her first album with Jay-Z Rocnation as management team is almost finsihed"

Jason I'm sure you've heard about this...Can you believe Kylie is doing an Album AND management deal with Jigga? I think it's a SMART move on her part...He did WONDERS for Rhianna..

Kylie is a Dance Diva but I can't wait to see what Jay-Z's label has planned for her...Will she fuse R&B with her music? Will she have 1 or 2 rap-duets? Maybe samplings will be a part of the packing...

"Soon after she arrived at LogoTV’s NewNowNext Awards, Kylie Minogue revealed that she’s “almost finished” with her 12th studio album. She said this in response to rumors that she was taking a hiatus, despite her recent signing to RocNation. “I didn’t ever really consider giving up completely, but I was kind of seduced into going back to the acting world,” she said to LogoTV. “Music pulled me back in.” Watch her interview after the jump."

So MM thinks Jigga can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, TWICE???

When I heard I was kind of confused but then very excited, it's a genius move for her. Jay and Roc Nation will only help her in America.

I'm not sure what direction she will go in with the new album, but she did go a bit R&B with Body Language, even sampling vocals from Ludachris on 'Chocolate'. I'm so ready for the next album though.

Has she worked with Jay-Z in the past? He's toured overseas enough maybe they became friends along the way..

Now that I'm kinda over my breakup a little, I'm finding this thread very helpful in cheering up at times. Thank you Cupid (*8*)

The way she says "oh baby come, come, come into my world" I can't help but squeal a little inside :luv:

I said this before I think, but I'm never impressed by the actual lyrics in her songs (they're never too complex or anything), but the way she sings them is so different I get so fixated it makes no sense :p

"like it like this" << nobody else says it like that

Maybe it's all in my head though, lol

^I love Your Love & Fragile off Fever. And Everything is Beautiful off Aphrodite (it's probably my favorite off that entire CD). Only song I really loved from X was Speakerphone. Wasn't so into Light Years and her work before that, but On a Night Like This is amazing. Loved I Should Be So Lucky as well :p

I did love her Abbey Road Sessions disc last year. It put a lot of her songs in a different perspective.

I just love Kylie so much.

love this performance

I know expectations are always low for someone without talent but this scrapes the bottom.

Who buys this shite? 14 year old girls?

I'm assuming you've heard her brand new song 'Skirt' by now Cupid? :gogirl:

Oh my........

Not loving it....let's hope I do. Is this is what the album is going to sound like? :/

It certainly has that Roc Nation sound.

Fucking terrible.......America will eat it up. :/

You know I don't even see this being a hit.

It's like they scraped together reject Beyonce, Rihanna and Britney songs and threw them together.

Fucking Christ, not good enough for my Kylie. #-o

We finally agree.

^ lovely way to start my new page.

EvilTwinTwo, if you hate Kylie so much would you please quit trolling my thread?

Thanks darlin.

So now when people don't agree with your delusional ways they are either trolls or haters. Those words have as much meaning as "Icon", "Legend" or "Diva", none.

This girl is innocuous. Sure, she's had a couple of catchy tunes but she's nothing more than a third-rate Madonna.

You stan 'artists' like Azealia Banks who calls herself an icon and refers to gay people as faggots and I'm the one who's delusional?

All that cotton candy has really clouded that sweet little head of yours. Is it really that hard to understand, is it really that over your head?

This girl is innocuous. Sure, she's had a couple of catchy tunes but she's nothing more than a third-rate Madonna.
Oh wow.

There have been, many third-rate Madonnas - especially in the 80s who flooded the charts in wake of Madonna's success. But none of them lasted. While Kylie and Madonna share a fan base because of similar styles in music and sometimes fashion, they differ on the most important thing: their music. Madonna is probably one of the most controversial artists ever and a lot of her music has involved religion and/or politics. Kylie's music never did that and still doesn't.

If Kylie was just another third-rate Madonna who popped up in the 80s, she would not have lasted in the industry for 25 years+ and she would not have scored #1 albums around the world in four consecutive decades. At some point, Kylie clearly did some things right in order to establish her own identity as an artist. Plus, like Madonna, she immortalized herself in the music world by constantly being inventive, changing her image, and keeping her fans guessing.

A "third-rate Madonna" would have never been able to get inducted in the ARIA hall of fame or get honored and recognized by the Queen of England for their contributions to the music world. Kylie has sold over 68 mil+ records worldwide and has embarked on many successful tours. She is both the UK and Australia's most successful female charting artist in both the 80's and 90's.

If anything, it's remarkably amazing how she's held on to the same audience Madonna has, has become just as big a gay icon (some polls & articles place her ahead), and yet has kept her musical identity different than Madonna's.

Just because you don't like her music doesn't mean you can put a label on her and think it's right. If you'd go through her discography and compare it to Madonna, you'd see why and how Kylie's distinguished herself from Madonna and come this far. At the end of the day, all the female artists out there inspire to be as big an icon and as immortal as Madonna. But few have done it. And Kylie is one of those few.

Peace.

Kylie - 'The Abbey Road Sessions'
A sorry array of pop bangers left soggy on the barbecue

3/10
Kylie. One of pop’s great shapeshifters. An artist who morphed from pop princess to ‘Suicide Blonde’; who crossed the channel of ’90s indie reinvention and popped out the other side as dancefloor diva extraordinaire. Which is why this orchestral “reworking” of her career is so baffling. The warped electro-pop of ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ shrivels to a paltry string number, while the sodden piano of ‘Better The Devil You Know’ is more excruciating than a Gary Barlow B-side. Only the Bond-esque ‘Confide In Me’ is worthwhile in an otherwise sorry array of pop bangers left soggy on the barbecue.
