Looks like Adam West and Burt Ward were in on the joke about them being gay. As a gay kid I loved that show, it was so campy and outrageous. It always struck me as odd that Batman had no desire for Catwoman, even I thought she was hot! And those costumes Batman and Throbbin wore left little to the imagination. The only old tv show I watched in reruns that really turned me on was "Flipper", Luke Halpin as Sandy was usually in just Levi's cutoff shorts or skimpy swim trunks. He had a flawless body and was always tan. There must've been thousands of closeted gay teens and men watching that show in the 60's and jerking themselves retarded.

Ward also added that his co-star, the late Adam West, had a different problem with his bulge; he needed to go the other direction.

Wow I met Adam West and Burt Ward once in Atlanta, GA. It was so incredible!

I don't remember seeing much bulge on Burt Ward. They must have put him in a cup or a strap or something else to hide it.

The key part of this is "According to Ward..." - my guess is this is a story he told to, um, stroke his own ego.
