The Golden Globe Nominations

woohoo!!! Congrats to Pushing Daisies for their Best Comedy nomination and Lee Pace and Anna Freil for their acting noms!!!!

Grey's Anatomy needs to go away... it's an addictively entertaining soap but there's no more genuine drama in it than in a middle school classroom. And way to go Ellen Page :) I'll have to make sure to see Juno.

No Desperate Housewives. I don't really like Marcia, but I thought her Bree was good this season.

Ugly Betty out, but 30 Rocks in? How boring.

7 movies for Best Drama Movie? Wow! I thought there is a reason to keep it simple - like 5. But hey, it seems like rules can change so easily.

I wanna see Hairspray win something. And Enchanted's Amy was really good. Convincing.

I haven't seen many of the movies nominated, so I'm not going to pick who I think should win. But I have seen most of the TV shows nominated, so here goes.

TELEVISION:

Series, Drama: Damages

Actress, Drama: Glenn Close, "Damages" or Minnie Driver, "The Riches"

Actor, Drama: none of them are that impressive to me

Series, Musical or Comedy: 30 Rock

Actress, Musical or Comedy: Christina Applegate, "Samantha Who?" or Tina Fey, "30 Rock"

Actor, Musical or Comedy: Alec Baldwin, "30 Rock" or Steve Carell, "The Office"

Supporting Actress, Series, Miniseries or Movie: Rose Byrne, "Damages"

Supporting Actor, Series, Miniseries or Movie: Ted Danson, "Damages" or William Shatner, "Boston Legal"

Snubs:
Desperate Housewives
Ugly Betty
Marcia Cross - Desperate Housewives
Felicity Huffman - Desperate Housewives
Dana Delaney - Desperate Housewives
Vanessa Williams - Ugly Betty
Ana Ortiz - Ugly Better
Michael Urie - Ugly Betty
Jenna Fischer - The Office
Rainn Wilson - The Office
Jane Krakowski - 30 Rock
Tracey Morgan - 30 Rock
Jean Smart - Samantha Who?
Jennifer Esposito - Samantha Who?
Elizabeth Perkins - Weeds

The main issue with their TV nominations is that in the supporting categories there is just one award for male and for female which means the comedy, drama and movie/miniseries compete against each other.

Delighted to see Marion Cotillard wasn't passed over for her amazing performance as Piaf in La Vie en Rose !

kinda upset that Kristen Chenowith didn't get a supporting actress nomination for Pushing Daisies....she's fantastic on that show!

Marcia Cross
Michael Urie
Chandra Wilson
should have been nominated

The Globes are a waste of time, IMO. They have no bearing on the Oscars, other than by coincidence, because their voting bodies are completely different.

Over here, you wouldnt know what the main nominess were without the internet. All our news has talked about is "the brits"...

I'm kind of upset there isn't more for Samantha Who? I'm addicted to that show.

I really don't understand why these awards keep Comedies and Musicals as the same category. It doesn't make sense to try and compare Helena Bonham Carter's performance in Sweeney Todd to Amy Adams' in Enchanted.

^^^ Because they can?

Actually the drama categories have served me quite as picks for Oscar pools the past couple years.

They seem to pick one new network comedy each year and shovel the love on it, in the past it has been Arrested Development and Housewives, this year it's Pushing Daisies.

William Shatner's Denny Crane won his first major award here too.
