The Great Gatsby - Another gorgeous Baz Luhrmann Film

Yes, I hear Crazy Baz toed the line and cast an Indian actor to play the sleazy corrupt Jewish financier character named Meyer. Oy Vey!

I will check out this movie adaptation with neutral expectations. I saw the older version with Redford in school and enjoyed that one, along with the book, very much.

The hiphop/rap music bothered me a little, but I liked it combined with jazz. Most interesting.

I must say though, I realized how amazing Leo is at romance. He always makes me feel like I am that special girl.

Nick is so gay.

I've never read the book but I definitely plan to. I never watched the trailer but I definitely plan to watch the movie. why, you might ask? because of Lana. and Florence

Lana Del Rey and Florence Welch have both written songs for the Great Gatsby.. Lana's was really just.. wow.. Flo's was nice but she kept talking about tearing a yellow dress and if there is no tearing of a yellow dress in the story, I'll be disappointed. LOL jk, I love Flo too much :P

(don't hate on me D:, I will read the book, I PROMISE)

Went out with 'ex-husband' and watched this entertaining yet otherwise sadly aweful movie in 3D.
I did not need to see evil dancing spiderman in that role. Also Leonardo DiCaprio was probably miscast as Gatsby.
Never seen any of the other movies nor read the book. The movie doesn't work as a period piece nor as a play that explores morality.

I saw it today as well. I had forgotten a lot about the original story but it all came back to me in a good way as I watched it this time. One of the more enjoyable period pieces for me. In a strange way, it was hauntingly beautiful. It is an acquired taste though, not everyone will like it. The only "criticism" I have for the movie was that maybe it could have been about half an hour shorter. It dragged out a little too much at certain points, imo.

saw it today and had never read the book. generally i thought it was too long and of course the story is all about alcoholic, morally dubious (at best) wealthy racists bed-hoppers who face the tribulations associated with such a life-style. i thought the character of 'tom' was the best performance, the rest were pretty flat in my opinion.

I saw it last weekend and loved it. First off I agree with Cupid Boy the 3D was unnessissary but the film it's self was highly enjoyable. Sadly I haven't read the book, which being an ex English A level student is a crime to say but I'd say the film got the gist of the story, well the romantic side anyway. The only major quarm I have is the music. As a seporate album it's great but hearing a baseline beat and the vocals of fergie and Q-tip while seeing a serposed 1920-30s party is just about awkward really. Florence Welsh's song and Larna del ray? No idea how to spell that, their songs were great and they fitted more with the film but I am a huge fan and so most probably biast. But yes over all an enjoyable film :) would defiantly recommend it.

Fitzgerald's style of writing and portrayal of characters in his novel allows little creative leeway if a director wanted to stay true to the story. Having read the book I kept that in mind as I watched the movie. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Overall, I really liked this movie. I decided to reread the novel and then watch the movie. It definitely helped me get reacquainted with the story and I was surprised by how much of the book, I'd forgotten.

I think all of the leads did a good job and while I felt the visual style was over the top at the beginning of the movie, I got used to it by the end of it. I would definitely recommend going to see it.

The hiphop/rap music bothered me a little, but I liked it combined with jazz. Most interesting.

I wasn't in love with that aspect of the movie, but thankfully it was a pretty small part of it. I felt it was jarring.
