I live in an older building (built in the late 1800s) and the basement is unfinished. Open floor joists in the ceiling. Walls made of mortared stone. Uninsulated.
So, it's getting to that time of the year when the basement is getting too cool for the little buggers that live down there and they're making their annual migration up into the warmer climes of my living space.
Lots of spiders, but they're mostly what we call 'Daddy Long Legs'. They're harmless, but they still startle me if I see one crawling up the wall beside me or feel one crawling on my leg or something.

I managed pull myself together and went back to the scene with a shovel to smash the damn thing. I learned today that it was a "wolf spider"... Honestly, I don't really care what kind it was... I fuckin' HATE spiders!
