inspired by the shirley manson thread... feel free to feel nostalgic, fellow children of the 90es!

imani coppola... picking up hot rednecks while biker-daddys are sissy-dancing in the background...

elastica... is "car song" the sexiest track of the 90es?

bif naked... love the surpreme cheesiness of "lucky"

meredith brooks, a morissette-clone, and republica, a garbage-clone... they still had some decent tracks, though:

and the thread wouldnt be complete without those two:

and im intentionally not including pj harvey... because pj is not half-forgotten! she is still rocking the worlds socks off, bitches!

(Throwing Muses aside, Belly is a 90's incarnation)

a bit more pop than alt-rock but still include her in the Lean Andreone/Meredith Brooks era of pop/rock chicks. Merril Bainbridge

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YIIM1EVDqg[/ame]

and even though she still plays all over all the time...she really hasn't had a hit since this song...Tracy Bonham

Well if we are gonna go the ska route too with the Dance Hall Crashers

how about

Save Ferris
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCzWPBR30Nk[/ame]

and here's a few more I thought of
Liz Phair

Lisa Loeb

^Save Ferris is probably the only TRUE ska group to come out of the 90's period that i really, really LIKE(to a lot of purists, No Doubt doesn't count - don't ask me why).

I'd say No Doubt on the first 2 albums (Beacon St. Collection and No Doubt) they were true ska...but once Tragic Kingdom hit they were just pop/rock

I never even heard of the first album - i'll have to check that out. :)

oh yeah...gotta for sure! I actually got them reversed...No Doubt is the first one and Beacon St. is the 2nd

but Beacon St. has some of my favorite songs on it..."Greener Pastures" "Total Hate '95" feat. Brad Nowell of Sublime "Open The gate"

In No Doubt's defense; they were crushed under the wheels of Grunge and were never the same after that. Bless their hearts.

But at the end of the day, I love me some Gwen! To hell with superficial tags and labels!..|
