The Heroes: Season 1 Part 2 Thread

So, do any of you guys think that both Jessica and Nikki have access as it were to the incredible stength power ? My thoughts is that the power is reciding in Nikki's body as strength is a physical thing and cannot be really 'taken', but since Jessica is the dominent one she is able to fully tap into it. There have been hints that Nikki can access the power she has when she needs to ( breaking the guard's club without really trying to and looking really surprised when she did ) but because she is the more doctile one maybe does not truly want to embrace such a violent power to begin with ?
My guess is something will deeply threaten her son and husband and finally force Nikki to gain full control of her body from Jessica and embrace her power to protect them. Also I feel that when it comes down to the final controntation in the city she will be like the brawn of the operation and used to take down the tough stand in guys to pave the way for the other heroes to move in for the kill.
Hiro is being made to think the sword is the source of his power because the writers of the show I think sort of wrote a huge plot hole by making him have the ability to manipulate time and space. It was too big of a plot hole as in it could be used to solve everything very quickly and not need to play the whole season out as it were. If Hiro could have total control all the writers could do was make Hiro just find where the villan is, stop the time loop, gather all the heroes and take them there in the space of one episode. So they had to slow down the progression of his power control by making him think he needs the sword to help him control his powers, and even though it may help or enhance him like we saw FHiro with it in a previous episode, to me it will take a while for him to come to terms with his power and find the sword. He has one of the more powerful powers, so in my mind it will take the most time then for him to truly master it and control it as much as his future self seemed to be able to do.

Since Jessica is in Niki's body, then she knows about the strength. I'm thinking because Jessica did the whole body jumping thing and was actually aware of powers exisiting and all that, she was able to catch on to Niki's strength when Niki so obviously hasn't and she now uses it to her advantage.

I think Niki is oblivious to her power because she doesn't know about it to use it. Think about it, if you can fly but don't know you can fly, you aren't going to go TRY to fly because you have no reason to. Even if you were to fall off of a cliff, you still would just fall because you have to be aware of the fact that you can fly to actually fly otherwise you'd be flying around all over the place all the time and not be able to control it. Their powers are very much things that are controlled and a part of them but since Niki doesn't really know about it, she doesn't really use it.

I have a theory that if Jessica can actually body jump into someone elses body that she'll be able to gain use of their power as well.

Pretty good episode, not my fave but had some cool parts. The Matt and Nikki/Jessica fight was cool, kind of sad claire's bio mom is kinda a bitch, and her mom losing her memory of even Mr. Muggles. Sylar killing the new hero and tricking Mohinder was a cool part too. The only thing I really didn't like was how there dragging out whole claire finding out Nathan is her father.

The theory works for almost any power EXCEPT strength. Strength is something you access just in everyday life. At some point Nicki should have accidentally done something where a normal person wouldn't realize thair own strength.

Give me an example of what you're talking about to analyze. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm just trying to test my theory against yours.

There are any number of things you do in daily life where you exert strength in order to push something, lift something, etc., and you pretty much without thinking assess how much strength you need to exert to perform a task. The most mundane might be attemptimg to open a jar. Every once in awhile the jar appears to be too tight (or tighter than you'd imagine it being), and you usually attempt a differnt tactic, but more often than not you first try to exert more strength. You would not think "I'm going to need super strength for this", but if it were there, you might accidentally do so, as you would exert more force than you normally would have, given the appearance of the task. Esp[ecially with a kid (Micah) at home, Nicki might regularly have run into situations where the strength might accidenatlly manifste itself.
OTOH, with most of the other folks' powers, they could conceivably live normally without ever being aware of what they were capable of (Claire, for example).

There isn't a lot I can say to refute your thoughts because they lend to the notion that there isn't really one set idea as to how their powers are supposed to work.

I mean, they all just HAPPEN to be discovering them now after that eclipse as if that was the cause of their discoveries, but obviously that isn't the case if there are examples like Claire, whose ability saved her from dying in a fire when she was only a baby or even, using your thoughts, Niki, who probably would have exerted some sort of physical abnomalities in strength long before the eclipse.

I'm curious, however, to know what your theory overall is on Jessica and Niki. I still like to hold on to the idea that Jessica is a body jumper and Niki is the one with the super strength but I could be and probably am wrong.

Jessica is a body jumper and Niki is the one with the super strength
Or 'Jessica' is indeed another personality of Nicki's. In either case, though, Nicki SHOULD have discovered her abnormal strength sometime back, since 'Jessica' would be utilizing what was already inherent in Nicki's physical makeup. However, since laws of logic need not apply, who's to say that, if Jessica existed as a separate being who takes over Nicki's body, that said being might bring not only the nasty streak, but the superhuman strength as well? Just as Petrelli's body adjusts to the powers he absorbs, Nicki might well be a normal person except when Jessica powers her up. Just a thought.

Everyone is forgetting something...Niki and Jessica are separated right now. If it were just Niki who had the super-strength, Jessica wouldn't have it while they're two seperate people like they are now.

I think we're just going to have to wait until we're told what's up with Niki and Jessica.

I didn't get the feeling that they were seperated at all. I was under the assumption that Jessica, obviously the stronger of the 'sisters' or 'personalities' finally just took over Niki for the time being and will stay the dominant personality until Niki learns how to deal.

But Ganeymede you actually brought up a really interesting point. I never really thought that maybe Niki's 'power' is becoming Jessica with the strength and what not. Very good thought.

It's like you said though, doctorsun, we'll just have to wait ans see. I hope at least one of us is right, lol.

I am still uncertain as how Sylar acquires others powers?

Does he eat the brain?

Extended Preview

Here is an extended preview for tonights all new Heroes :).

Regular Preview : Someone will die, someone will fly.

SPOILER preview below

OMFG!

What a great episode tonight!!!!!

I'm gonna have to convince my parents to buy me a VCR this weekend (I work next Monday, and will miss the HRG/Mr. Bennet explination episode...Which as you can guess from my avatar, I've been waiting for!).

But no, this one ("Unexpected") has got to be the best episode so far...Did not see the end coming at all...

No spoilers from me, I'll post again tomorrow after everyone's seen it...BUT OMFG...SOOOO good.

"And the Emmy goes to, 'Heroes.'

(*U*)

I'll be back when i pick my jaw up off the floor. It's wierd because they had been stressing the key thing for a while now so as soon as Issac started shooting randomly i just knew that Simone would get hit. Because the preview said someone would die and noone major died yet so it fit perfectly with the key storyline and to think Simone wanted to give the key back but Issacc insisted. He is going to beat himself up. Even though i felt/knew Simone would get shot, my jaw still fell, because even though i kinda knew it was still "unexpected" if that makes any sense LOL.

I'll be back, i need to process.

OH...MY...GOD...

That was the best episode ever.

Peter FINALLY stopped being a pussy. I LOVE him as the good version of Sylar.

Speaking of Sylar, I thought it was hilarious how he couldn't control the hearing power. I wonder if that will be an issue in the future. I wonder how long it'll take for Mohinder to put two and two together and figure out that "Zane" is really Sylar. Sylar isn't really hiding it very well, especially with his new inability to control his hearing.

I was also glad to see Claire finally taking a stand against her father. I cannot wait until next week's episode. It's going to be so fucking good! We'll see how tough Bennet is without the Haitian around to protect him.

I really like Hana, the new wireless woman. I think she, Matt, and radioactive man make a cool trio. I can't wait to see what they do to Bennet.

I totally did not expect Simone to be the one who would die. That came out of no where and it was fucking brilliant. It was sad, of course, but oh my god, what a great ending.

I was kind of bored by last week's episode but this one just blew the entire rest of the season out of the water. It's only going to get better, too. Imagine what the season finale will be like...

I LURVED this episode!! The way Simone died and it being so unexpected was awesome. I just loved how they left it at a cliff hanger... O M G. Best. episode. ever.

GREAT episode, and wow I was actually surprised by Simone dieing. Also man I can't wait to see what happens with HRG vs. Ted/Matt/Hanna. I also wonder how long Claude and Ando will be gone for, I hope not forever :(, and I'm still missing Zach :grrr: . But once again GREAT episode.

Ok, time for me to post more...

YES! What a great episode it was tonight!!!

I figured Matt wouldn't actually do anything with the diamonds, even though it seems like he took a "Dark Side Shift" in the last episode when he took them. Got to love the way a wife can control a guy's morals...

Seeing Claire stand up to Mr. Bennet was pretty great too, I wonder what he's going to do to the Haitian after finding out that he didn't wipe Claire's memory.

Although, Peter seemed to take a bit of dark turn himself towards the end of this episode. Maybe if Issac just stressed a bit more about how Eden and Mr. Bennet (eventually) got him off drugs...Peter might be a bit more sympathic.

I have to say, I did not see Simone going out...

But I think this is going to be the dividing line between future conflicts with Peter and Issac, each will probably blame each other for Simone's death...Driving Issac closer to working with Bennet and so forth.

That or Issac will go 360, blame Bennet for leaving the gun, and end up sort of joining the : I hate that dude with glasses, let's kidnap him! team.

Oh, and seems I don't need a VCR!

For ALL Canadians who get Global: This Sunday, Global will be showing NEXT MONDAY's episode A DAY EARLY.

Gotta love Canada...I'm sure they're running it against the Oscars, but there will be time to watch both...And besides, Heroes wins over acceptance speeches.

I've always likened Nikki's ability to that of the Incredible Hulk where when she gets angry or her son is threatened then the beast within is unleashed. Only in her case it comes forth in a dual personality and she doesn't turn green, get really huge etc.

Maybe the episode was called "Unexpected" because...... uh.... something unexpected happened at the end!

I'm so fucking tired of Sylar.. Jesus.. I hope he dies! HORRIBLY!!!
