Do you feel as though you consume way too much food? Alot of late night snacking and trips to the conveniant store for treats?

I don't feel like I eat too much... I just eat too much of the wrong things and not enough of the right things. And I snack an awful lot, I have a tendency to nibble throughout the afternoons.

When I was taking Prozac, though, I did eat a lot...everything tasted so good and my "No thanks, I'm full" switch was supressed so I was able to pack in a lot of food. I gained twenty pounds in two months of starting the drug. And though I've changed antidepressants, I'm still capable of eating an entire restaurant meal, which I wasn't able to do before that.

Yeah - sometimes I feel I eat waaaay too much - it's a bad habit. I am aware of it and try to keep it in check.

Usually I do. But I've been dieting this weekend, and I'm stunned by two things. One, how little I've been eating. And two, how not hungry I am despite this.

Take yesterday. Here's what I ate:

A turkey wrap with onions, lettuce and tomato. No cheese, no condiments.
A decent-sized salad with mixed greens, green peppers, onions, and portabellos. Light on the honey mustard dressing.
A 100-calorie Little Debbie snack cake.

...that's it. For the entire day.

Three years ago, that might have been enough for a light meal. Now, it's enough for the whole day. How? What my friend calls "slow-motion eating".

I get the wrap on the way to work. (I sometimes mix it up with a roast beef wrap, or a veggie wrap with swiss cheese.) I put it in the fridge, and every hour, I go grab the wrap, and eat two bites off it. That's it. Then I put it away, and get back to work. The wrap lasts the entire work day this way. It was tough to get started on this method, because (oddly) I would start eating before I was hungry. But that actually worked to my advantage. So long as I was giving my stomach "something to do" routinely, it didn't feel the need to make me feel hungry.

Mind you, I do still miss "snacking". Not in that "I'm hungry" way, but more in that "I miss putting popcorn/chips/cookies in my mouth" sort of way. When this happens, I chew some sugarless gum. Or give my mouth something else to do. :)

I was chronicly underweight until my mid twenties even though I ate as much as I reasonably could. I finally started gaining weight by eating even more after my other half started cooking lots for me. I held onto a respectable bear weight of 240-250 for a couple of decades until I decided to let it drop after my brother caught diabetes. Even though I'm under 200 I need to eat what my other half considers more than "normal" people in order to stay above 180.

I eat a lot but most of it's nuts, fruits and vegies. Guilt free!! I'll get off my high-horse now... ;)

Oh, I know I eat way to much. I try to make it good eating though(mostly chicken and veggies), but I'm one of the lucky few people that can stuff my face and never gain any weight.

I have the opposite problem =(
I'm a fucking skinny bitch, I'd like to gain weight.

I love my food! Fortunately I have the genes to pull that one off...

You know it says on the 28 oz size of Haagen Daz, "servings per container- 7"...7!?

Ahahahahaha!!!
2, tops.

I love food. I went on a diet last year, eating 6 small meals throughout the day - 3 meals, 3 snacks - and lost over 20 kilos. I put it all back on when I quit smoking though cause I was eating chocolate and hot potato chips. I love hot chips and gravy

I rarely eat these days though. And I'm constantly hungry which is an odd combination. This thread makes me wish it wasn't 2:43 in the morning and the corner store was open. I want doritos.
Please describe hot chips and gravy. This food-crazed foreigner senses a new source of pleasure...

I could be wrong but I think hot chips & gravy is (to us americans anyway) just french fries with a light brown gravy (usually chicken or turkey based?).

Before I returned to the gym I was eating food that I really shouldn't have been eating, in mass amounts.

But after returning and going three - four times a week my appetite has been fairly small these days. :D

I haven't been to KFC in ten years - For the past month or so I've been pigging out on it thought. Love their wicked wings. :luv:

My all-time favorite meal is roast prime rib with Yorkshire pudding. Cooked the old way.
Beef nice and rare, but seared on the outside to get the surface fat all nice and crispy. Then you take the meat, transfer it to another pan, and, after you remove the au jus part of the drippings, you place the Yorkshire mix (basically a simple popover batter) into the 1st pan, with all the fat, and cook it in that.
After it's done, you use the Yorkshire to help 'sop' up the extra au jus...
OMFG! I'm SO hungry right now!

^ I am so envious of you you bitch. :p

I'll definitely be keeping that in mind one day when I look in the mirror and feel skinny, which will probably be never.

^ Congrats Mikami! Counting calories takes a lot of work, I've tried and always seem to fall of that wagon. :grrr:

But all I can remember is 4 KJ = 1 Calorie approximately? Woohoo for having a phone with an energy converter on it.
