The Institution of Heterosexuality

More and more as friends and acquaitences pair of and begin their "life together" I find myself getting more and more tired of hearing about Junior's latest diaper fiasco, or his C+ on his spelling report, or how the teacher doesn't understand him. These people I simply don't hang out with or keep in touch with any more. Their lives have changed and split off to a completely different direction then mine. Such is what happens, and thats the way it is in life, friends part ways.

And here is how I look at it. Invariably my friend will, after getting married, change. His priorities will be different, and we will soon not mesh anymore. The wedding can be in some manner a form of closure.

I think it's actually the having kids part that's the closure. It's amazing how many friends I've seen transform into Ward and June Cleaver, and how unbelievable self-righteous they've become after having kids, especially men - "Man, the day I had a baby girl, it softened me up...blah, blah, blah"

Well...not all of them do.

I'm sure you know that though.

Weve been invited to my cousins' wedding in QC, needless to say, despite where we'll be working by then, i can definitely guarantee that i will be working that weekend :p
