The cats been sick today this is the third time and right on the rug too.:##:

Hear Hear!!!!!!!

Windows automatically updates my computer at God knows what hour on what day...because it always seems random...

A couple of weeks ago, it fucked things up to the point where I had to re-set to an earlier time to undo the nonsense.

This week, it did pretty much the same thing...once again fucking things up and then updating again the next night to apparently correct some of the problems created.

And MacAfee is just as fucking bad anymore.

I've successfully avoided the forced update to 8.1. Hey Microsoft - if Windows 8.1 was such hot shit, and the best thing since sliced bread, why didn't you just pre-install it from the get-go?? I bought this desktop PC only last spring, after my income tax refund. I don't even think it's been a full year, yet.

My dog passed away a couple weeks ago and I was grief-stricken. Now the pheonix in me has risen from the ashes and I am whole again! I got myself cute Frenchie. I'm a huge dog guy, what can I say.:-)

Madame has guests for dinner and as usual she puts on her "bossy hat" and starts to be slightly unpleasant with the personnel.

It is not even 09hr yet and already she is telling me that the flowers I have just spent an hour arranging smell too strong. I can see me having to programme redoing it. Not really the flowers rather the foliage I have mixed in to fill up the gaps between the flowers.

So I am here counting to 10 before starting the cleaning and hopefully completing those things that she is likely to complain about not being done.

It is not going to be a good day today.

The cats been sick again. He may need to go to a vet if this continues. :##:

You wouldn't think that something so small could sick up so much.

I have tiles, no carpet, in my flat. So the cat managed to vomit on every piece of furniture, never on the tiles where it was easy to clean. In fact he used to jump up on to the canapé just to be sick.

I sympathise.

OMFG, maybe I'm just asking for trouble by arguing with these people, but I've seen on news sites, both local and national, about the breaking news story from yesterday, that a judge ordered the Travis County, Texas (where Austin is) county clerk's office to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple, a lesbian couple, where one, I believe, of them has cancer.

And I normally would, and should know better than to get into an argument with a Christian conservative in the Facebook comments section. But dear fucking god, this guy is really making my head hurt.

In the interest of fairness, I'll post both what he said, and what I said back...

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

…2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.…
2 Timothy 4:2-4

Me...

Quit using your rulebook to try and manipulate and control others. Two people of the same gender wanting to get married and spend the rest of their lives together isn't "gay privilege". Privilege would be gay people not having to pay taxes. You know, like churches don't.

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

The "rulebook" is for Christians and future Christians.....therefore you need not worry.....not yet anyhow.

I'll refer to other commenters by their initials - D.E.

I have a rule: folks that literally interpret the Bible are not interested in its wisdom rather more interested in controlling other people and allowing themselves to be subject to control never taking the effort to think for themselves ignoring their own God given gift of a self-conscious designed to see what's morally right without a doctrine or belief system of which was written by humans anyway.

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

(D.E.), please read my earlier comment about the "rulebook." If you don't believe what it says, do as you wish and have a nice day.

Me, directed at the Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

You Christians don't even follow your own rulebook half the time...

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

So are you telling me that Christians have sinned too? Nothing new.....that's why we need forgiveness. King David committed adultery, Peter denied knowing Christ, many other sins documented in the Bible. Maybe you should read it.

D.E.

I believe it. It's pretty easy to grasp however it seems vague and applicable to many issues. Your argument seems to be predicated on "sound doctrine" that is supposed to guide us from allowing same sex to marry? I disagree and argue that pursuing what you feel is right trumps any belief system.

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

(D.E.), Thus you are saying "I don't care what the Bible says, I'm gonna do whatever I feel is right." Kind of supports the verses I posted at the beginning of this string of comments.

D.E.

in a way yes, but to ignore the wisdom of the Bible is choosing to be ignorant. I reserve the right to not follow anything in the Bible I don't feel is right AND I still get to be a Christian though.

J.M.A., another commenter...

"I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7... What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My friend insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or is it okay to call the police? ... Touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the ~Dallas Cowboys still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads?"

Me, directed at J.M.A.

I saw what you did there, and I love it! Christians don't like it when you throw their own book right in their face and pwn them with it! You don't get to cherry-pick which parts of the bible you will and won't follow - either every last sentence from Genesis to Revelation strictly applies, or none of it does. There is no middle ground.

If you believe Leviticus about same-sex relationships being an "abomination", then let's talk about how much you're charging for your daughter, hmm? What's the highest bid you've had for her, so far? Or working on the sabbath apparently literally making you eligible for the death penalty. You'd have no retail workers to run the stores with, no people to work in restaurants, or in just about any open-to-the-public customer service job. Why? Because at some point, the nature of the job requires you to be able to work just about any day of the week, whether you're religious or not. Them's the breaks.

Christians' objections to same-sex marriage are really about using religion to coerce and socially police the behavior of others, where they have no right whatsoever to do so. These BS excuses of "the sanctity of marriage" and "protecting children" are just that - excuses. Any person with an ounce of integrity and common sense can see that. What this is really about is Christians wanting to usurp as much power, domination, and control over society in general as possible. This "attack on Christianity" narrative is nothing more than a reverse psychology smokescreen, when what Christianity really wants is to be society's behavior and moral police force.

Christian conservative Facebook commenter...

(J.M.A) and (Me), you really don't get my point do you? You don't have to believe what's in the Bible, thus don't take a verse out of the Bible and says this is what the Bible (God) endorses. It doesn't endorse slavery, but yet slavery existed then and there were rules for how slaves/servants should be treated. Being that we don't have slaves today and we follow "Do unto others......." that one really doesn't apply any longer. There were many other rules for the Israelites to stay clean and present themselves as clean in the days when high priests had to serve as a go-between for the people and God in the temple. Since that time, Christ came, died for our sins and was resurrected so that we (including you if you choose to accept Him) might be saved. Now as far as sin goes, it is still wrong to lie, murder, commit adultery, etc. Try actually posting the verse (not your interpretation of it) next time and try reading the entire chapter (or even book) so that you can complete your understanding.......but then you would have no justification for living as you see fit as you currently do. We are all sinners and fallen short of the what God requires, thus the reason for Jesus' sacrificing His life for us. God bless you and I pray He reveals the truth to you and others before it is too late.

First off, I should probably have known better than to get into an argument with this person, using actual logic and actual reason. Secondly, in his last comment, is it just me, or does this guy actually do what I call him out on doing - social and moral policing through religious coersion....

but then you would have no justification for living as you see fit as you currently do. We are all sinners and fallen short of the what God requires, thus the reason for Jesus' sacrificing His life for us. God bless you and I pray He reveals the truth to you and others before it is too late.

It's "christian" conservatives like this that make me ashamed and sorry that I'm from Texas. Generally, we strive to be the nicest, friendliest people you'd ever meet. But when the Christian Right comes out of the woodwork, equality issues tend to be VERY hot button and contentious. I don't know... :##:

Oh, shit!

Word just came on my twitter feed from the weather department at Dallas-Fort Worth's Channel 5 - The local National Weather Service office out of North Fort Worth is scheduling ahead of time a Winter Storm Watch for Sunday night and Monday for the entire northern Texas region. A sleet and/or ice event, especially for the 5 counties of immediate Dallas-Fort Worth, looks more and more likely with the passage of time.

Ugh, the hate I have for my home state is insatiable, and I'm growing bitter towards this one friend who seems to be representing even more what I hate about this place. It's kinda out of control.

So much for global warming.

^ One model of global warming has much of the United States east of the Great Plains, becoming sharply colder than the climate that has prevailed. The Gulf Stream would shut down, and stop steering southern weather northward in the eastern USA.

This would be caused because of the Greenland ice cap melting. I'm not sure if it would bring in a mini-ice age...which may not get as far south as Philadelphia or something, but places like Quebec City could have permanent ice pack??

Not only do tomorrow and Monday look more and more like a sleet and ice event here, but the early word from the computer models is... so does next weekend. Fuck my life!

Why yes, I absolutely love getting chronic cold feet. I can't begin to tell you how I jump for joy at everything from my calves to my toes feeling at least 20ºF colder than the rest of my body.
Said no one fucking ever!

Toya, gurl, take it away! This video always cheers me up about winter weather.

In other news, my overnight manager did indeed get the district manager job with the truckstop chain he was trying for. Thing of it is, they would make him move to Alabama and be there for the next 5 years - which is not possible with his wife, kids, and his parents that he's looking after. I'm still going to shoot for the store manager positions and see if they have anything open. What's the worst they could tell me? No? /shrugs...

My therapist works in a call center for an insurance company through the week. She told me to start looking at some of the call centers, a good amount of which are around northeastern Dallas-Fort Worth, where I live. So that's something I'm gonna look at.

I need to see if word has come down yet at my store, if they're going to do away with the overnight shift yet. I need to move fast, in search of stability, because tomorrow: no promises, no guarantees.

OMFG, maybe I'm just asking for trouble by arguing with these people...

You better PREACH dat shit!!!

As for my general thoughts on it, honestly...I have had some "debates", back and forths, etc. with "Christians"/religious fanatics regarding their beliefs more times than I care to remember. I've just come to the point where I think they are free to believe whatever the hell they want, but when they try to use their moral/religious convictions to run MY life...then I'm going to have a fucking problem. And they're going to know about it. And I'm going to throw their rulebook and hypocrisies right in the face.

I think one thing that bothers me the most regarding the gay marriage deal is that there are so many of them that REFUSE to ACCEPT the idea of separation of church and state! I just want to shake them because of it...#-o:dead:

Fortunately, I don't have any of that type on my Facebook right now (and they would know better than to come at me like that), so I haven't had to school any of them about their hypocrisy and cherry picking so far. We just had a huge landmark decision in Alabama that has legalized gay marriage...but of course, the conservatives are trying their hardest to "fight" it with all kinds of foolishness. I can't wait until the U.S. Supreme Court makes their final decision this summer, and end all of this confusion once and for all. :dead:

Snowing here and the roads are real bad. Lost control of my car and almost completely spun out getting here.

I'm glad you're alright! (*8*)

Meanwhile, here in Big D, word on the street is that supermarkets around town are literally being bought out of house and home. I can believe it - I passed by a Walmart Supercenter and a Kroger on my way to therapy, this morning. Both stores' parking lots were literally packed out to the street with shoppers' cars. It's getting cold now, 59F - that artic front passed through this morning, and my feet are already cold. We're supposed to get cold, and stay cold, all week. Monday, we may or may not get above freezing. But wait, there's more! Friday into next weekend looks to be another winter mix episode for Dallas-Fort Worth. Jury's still out, but that's what the early computer model runs come back with for next weekend.

Whipped this up on PowerPoint, then posted it to Pinterest...

Ugh now a fuck nut snow plower left a decent amount of snow behind my car. Have to buy a 15 dollar shovel tonight just to shovel out my car.

...And this is exactly part of the reason why I have such respect for you folks you live up north, and have to deal with ice and snow on a regular basis. I could not do it!!!

Thank you so much for confirming that, no, I'm not crazy! These are people who honestly, in their heart of hearts, believe that they have a moral and ethical obligation...in fact, a mandate, to tell you, me, and the rest of society exactly how we are to run our lives, as if we aren't smart enough to decide our own fate on our own. But not only do they feel that they have a moral and ethical obligation to run our lives for us, if push comes to shove - and it has, on same-sex marriage - they will usurp the power of the law, and of the judge's bench, to pass laws dictating to us what we can and cannot do - who we can and cannot marry.

They have no right, whatsoever, to do this.

If, say, Mark and Ethan want to get married - as two legally-old-enough, mature adult, grown-ass men, they have every right to make that decision for themselves! Now, they don't have the right to be protected from the consequences of that decision - that's why it's called, "for better or worse". But as two mature, adult men, they absolutely have every right to make that decision for themselves. If society, the Christian right, or whoever doesn't happen to like it, or has some "objection" to it, that is NOT Mark's and Ethan's problem - it is the problem of whoever decides to take issue with something that really isn't any of their business, anyway.

Hey, Christian right - we are not subservient to you, for you to be telling us what to do - Stop! You are not society's moral, ethical, and behavioral police force - Stop! If I'm old enough to sign a legally binding contract, if i'm old enough to sign up for the military, if I'm old enough to face the death penalty if I intentionally kill somebody, if I'm old enough to have a job, and to drive a car, then I'm old enough to be able to decide, for myself, who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Period. End of story. If you find that you have some moral or ethical objection to it, that is, at the most fundamental, wholesale level, your problem, not ours. And you have no right whatsoever to shame and religiously coerce us into thinking otherwise.

I love how Morgan Freeman so aptly put it in a twitter post, in direct, "Judge Judy", no bullshit style...

I guess, what angers me about all of this, is, GH, that you, me, and everybody else can see their bigoted, open bullshittery from a mile away, but they, themselves, can't? :bs:
