The OP is sounding really jealous. Before I try to tackle a Kim Kardashian, there's a do-nothing aiming for the Presidency. Sarah Palin is far more worrisome than Kim Kardashian.

Yes I've heard about her too. Another nobody that the media is so fixated on. It just makes me wonder if at any point anyone the media ever pauses for a second and asks themselves why are we chasing after this person?

Her and her sisters own Quick Trim, she owns and operates multiple stores, shes got her own show, I think she has 2 perfumes she developed herself, she's writing a book, she is the executive producer of the Spin Crowd, she's a model, she has a line of workout DVDs, she owns and operates a styling company (something like that), she designs her jewelry line, shes got 2 fashion lines, and some type of makeup.
That's a decent amount of stuff to me.

All I know is she's apparently hard to keep up with.
The reality shows dealing with the K-Clan are some of the most watched TV shows in America. I don't know why, personally, because the few bits and pieces I've seen didn't interest me in the slightest. There are people who seem to like watching pretty people go to exclusive/expensive places and doing things. Not my cup of tea.

The reality series Keeping up with the kardashians gave her fame a big boost a few years ago- they are a funny and entertaining family, and once hype builds, it builds even more. And now she's very popular, and the media will fixxate on her cos they know the public are interested.
I think we're interested in her cos her look is fresh and modern - we're kind of bored of blonde bombshells and Kim is more exotic looking. But the reality show was definately a strong platform for her fame.

If asked the media would probably say "because this is what the public wants". But then the public would probably say "we're interested because she's famous" But they wouldn't be able to say WHY she's famous

The media really knows how to spin it. People demand certain things because they are popular but in order to be popular you have to have some outlet first in order for the public to know who you are and that "outlet" is usually always jump started by the media.

I saw it on The Soup and I almost choked on my Crunch Berries.
