.....|..|...Good/Fair..Nearly 2hrs...

M. Night Shyamalan had very Good intentions when he decided to Write, Produce & Direct "The last Airbender"......When you're watching this Flick you want to Like it...Even though the trailers were on the "ify" side I knew i had to check this out....I didn't see the Nickelodeon series so I had no background information going in....I feel Shyamalan moved very fast while telling the story..One scene we see the "Fire nation" seizing the elders of the "Water nation" tribe and I don't recall if we ever found out what happened to them and why they were taken...He should have filmed longer scenes of "Aang" the Avatar honing his skills under the "Earth" nation...Basically "Aang" dropped in and was out of there.........You can tell Shyamalan jam-packed so much into the flick and it made us think the climax would be "The Ending".

The cinematography was good. The Air, Earth, Water & Fire effects were decent but we needed to see more of each. The handful of Fight scenes were also decent and Shyamalan did a good job at showing the viewer "Aang's" martial art skills..

The Casting Director hit it out of the Ball-park...Casting child-Actor Noah Ringer as "Aang" was perhaps the best decision made....Noah Ringer holds the Damn film together from beginning to end...

The 2nd best decision was Casting Dav Patel as "Prince Zuko"...Dav gives an intense performance and he has a "stare" that would bring anyone to their knees...A couple of years ago I chose to skip over "Slum Dog Millionaire" even with all its critical glory & awards. I will check it out just to see Dav's performance..

If "The last Airbender"doesn't flop @ the box office & the studio green-lights a sequel then M. Night Shyamalan needs to step-up his game.....The ending of "The Last Airbender" tells us There's so much more to be told..I feel Shyamalan deserves a 2nd chance to tell "Aang's" journey but he needs to take notes from the book of "Peter Jackson"...

If you are a fan of the series don't worry about any "reviews" just check it out for yourself...Sci-Fi Fanatics can wait for DVD, PPV or part II if there is one...

^^^Never saw the Cartoon version...Months ago when I saw the 1st sneak-view @ the theatre I thought it was just some video game turned into a flick..

M. Night Shyamalan did good with the hit flick "Signs" but I was surprised he would take on epic...

I highly recommend the cartoon series - three seasons, one for each of Water, Earth, Fire.

It is brilliant. The series takes its time. It fleshes out Aang's character and development, and those of everyone else in the series. Lots of humour in it too.

The series is out on DVD so check it out if you can.

I agree that the series was great. Those who haven't seen it should take a look at it and you will discover why most of the fans are appalled by this live action movie.

ya should have watch the cartoon first before watch the live action. the cartoon is so much better than the live action movie. i even bet his career is over! he is just a one trick pony

if the cartoon is better than the movie, wouldn't you be better off seeing the movie first so that you wouldn't know what you're missing? ;)

as someone who saw the movie without seeing the cartoon, I found that I enjoyed it way more than my friends who were into the cartoon.

True but i have a feeling that i may not enjoy the movie. i read that he left out lot of key plots of the movie.
