the last film you watched thread

Riddick.

Enjoyable crap.

I enjoyed this too, supposedly the upcoming video release will be a longer cut - which would improve the choppy editing of the theatrical cut.

oh and to clarify one film that I listed

'Like Father, Like Son' is this film:

Hi. I didn't like August too much; I loved the play and guess my expectations were too high. Did you like Frances Ha? I didn't like that much either. This week I'm seeing Fruitville Junction, Nebraska, and A Touch of Sin.

in terms of August they nearly cut out forty minutes of dialogue/narrative. They stream lined it, but it felt like it was (obviously) missing something.

I couldn't stand Frances Ha - talk about overpraised - I couldn't care about the lead character.

Nebraska - was a complete surprise. Bruce Dern's acting was superb and June Squibb for that matter, but Will Forte really surprised me. Talk about a complete 360 from his transvestite role in '30 Rock' to this.

Went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug in the cinema. Not bad... but not very good either.

Prefer the Rankin Bass movie from 1977.

Peter (The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Love) Greenaway's

wow - it was pretty shocking in the nudity sex department.

Xmen Origins: Wolverine.

Was on a bit of an Xmen kick on Sunday...

^ I remember seeing Scrooge in the theater with a friend of mine in high school that I had a major crush on - he and I laughed at the Karma Sutra joke - I should have leaned over and kissed him or at least run my hands across his hairy chest.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

It was okay, but nowhere near as good as the LOTR movies.

As an aside I was disappointed by my movie theatre. One of the trailers was for a Focus on the Family “documentary” about traditional marriage.
